Lesson 28 Amplified – PONERIA

PONERIA

American: depravity

PORNEIA – PORNEIAI

singular -- plural

American: whoring(s), incest(s), non-marital sexual intercourse(s)

PORNEUO

American: indulge in sexual lust

PORNE – PORNAI

singular -- plural

American: whore(s), prostitute(s)

PORNOS – PORNOI

singular -- plural

American: male prostitute(s)

Sexual hamartia is a very unpleasant subject, but it is dealt with at length in the New Blood Covenant or New Testament.

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

1st Thessalonians 4: Finally (then), Brothers, we request of you and parakaloumen [invite, exhort] you in the Kurios Jesus, even as you received from us how it is necessary to walk and to please Theos in order that you superabound the more. For you know what commands we gave to you via the Kurios Jesus. For this is the thelema [determination, choice, decision, decree] of Theos, your purification: for you to abstain from porneia, for each one of you knows how to possess his own vessel [body] in hagiasmos [holiness, purity] and time [value, esteem]; not in passion of forbidden desire, as the ethnoi [nations, non-Jews, Gentiles] not knowing Theos.

1st Corinthians 5.7: Then thoroughly cleanse away the old leaven in order that you may be a new mass of dough (just as if you are unleavened). For our Passover Lamb was sacrificed for us, the Christos. So, let us keep feast, not with old leaven; not with leaven of kakia [worthlessness] and of ponerias; conversely, with the unleavened bread of clarity and of truth. I write to you (in this letter) not closely and habitually to associate with pornois, but not entirely to shun all the pornois of this kosmou [universe, world, cosmos]; not with the greedy; nor with plunderers; nor with idolaters. Therefore, you might think that I am telling you that you must issue forth emergent from the kosmou. But (actually) I write to you not to associate with anyone if he is called a brother! who is either pornos or greedy or an idolater or abusive or a drunkard or a plunderer.

1st Corinthians 6.9: Or not know you that those adikeo [being unjust] won't be heirs to the Kingdom of Theos? Do not be led astray! Not pornoi nor idolaters nor moichoi [adulterers] nor effeminate nor sodomites nor thieves nor greedy nor drunkards nor revilers nor plunderers; in no way shall they be heirs to the Kingdom of Theos.

1st Corinthians 6.15: The soma isn’t for porneia, conversely, for the Kurio and the Kurios for the somati [body]. Now, Theos also awakened (from death) our Kurion and will fully rouse us from death via his dunameos [force, power]. Don’t you know that your somata are limbs of the Christou? Then shall I take the limbs of the Christou and make of them pornes [of a whore] limbs? Not let it be caused to be! Or don’t you know that he being joined [coupled] to a porne is being in one soma with her? For he says,

“The two will be into one flesh.”

GENESIS 2.24: [Adam prophesying] “Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and shall impinge [ram, couple, cling, adhere] to his woman [wife] and they shall be into one flesh.”

1st Corinthians 6:18: Flee porneian! Every other hamartema [miss of the mark, goal; offense, sin] that a man may do is outside the somatos of the man, but he doing porneuon commits hamartanei into his own soma.

Ephisians 6,10: For the rest, my brothers, be empowered in the Kurio and in the might of His strength. Put on the whole armor of Theos for you to be able to stand against the wiles of the diabolou [leader to shame, devil, satyr], because it isn’t us wrestling against flesh and blood but against the chiefs, against the forces, against the kosmos-rulers of the shadiness of this age, against the pneumatika [spiritual] powers of ponerias above the sky! Because of this, take up the whole armor of Theos in order that you may be able to stand against [oppose] in the ponera [hurtful] day and having worked out all, to stand.

Lesson 27 Amplified – SOZO

SOZO

American: to save

SOTERIA

American: rescue, safety; salvation

Hebrew Aramaic: yeshuwah

American: something saved, something rescued

For over two thousand years mankind has been offered salvation; deliverance from the horrors of Hell. Our God and Savior, Jesus the Christos, suffered and died to give to us the opportunity for salvation.

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

1st Thessalonians 5.4: But you aren’t in shadiness, Brothers, such that the day should seize you as a thief. All of you are sons of the Rays [Light] and sons of the day. We aren’t of shadiness, therefore let’s not sleep as the rest but let us be vigilant and be sober. For those sleeping, sleep by night and those getting drunk are drunk at night. Since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on the corselet [body armor] of pistis [reliance upon, faith in] and of agape and a helmet of elpis [expectation, hope] of soteria. For Theos not placed us prostrate into orge [violent passion, fury, rage, wrath] but for acquisition of soteria via our Kurios Jesus the Christos (the One having died on our behalf) in order that whether we keep awake [live] or we sleep [die] we may live together with Him. So, encourage one another and be a builder up one to the other as indeed you do.

2nd Thessalonians 2.13: I ought always eucharistein [express gratitude to, give thanks to] Theos concerning you, Brothers, egapemeoi [having been unconditionally loved] by the Kurios, because Theos chose you from the beginning to soteria in hagiasmos [holiness, purity] of the Hagios Pneuma and conviction of the truth to which He called you, via my euaggelion [good news, gospel, evangel], to acquisition of the glory of our Kurios Jesus the Christos.

1st Corinthians1.18: For the logos of the cross is indeed foolishness to those perishing but to us sozomenois [being saved], it is the dunamis [force, power] of Theos.

1st Corinthians 3.10: Down [according] to the charin [graciousness] of Theos (given to me) as a wise chief constructor, I laid out a foundation, but another added to it. Let each one (himself) watch out how he builds upon it. For other foundation not even one man is able to lay besides the One being laid Who is Jesus the Christos. If anyone builds on this Foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay stubble; the work of each one will be apparent. The Day of the Judgment will make it plain, for in fire it is revealed, and the fire will test each one’s work (of what sort it is). If someone’s work remains (that he built on the Foundation), he will receive wages. If anyone’s work will be consumed, he will suffer loss, but he sothesetai [will be saved], but as via fire.

1st Corinthians 15: Brothers! I make known to you the euaggelion which I eueggelisamen to you, which also you received [took to heart]; in which also you stand; via which also you are sozsesthe [saved], if you hold it fast [tightly] and if you not episteusate [had faith] in vanity.

2nd Corinthians 6: Being your fellow-worker, I also parakaloumen [invite, exhort] you not vainly to receive the charin of Theos, for He says, “At a favorable time, I heard you and in a day of soterias, I helped you.”

ISAIAH 49.8: Thus says YHWH: “In a favorable time, I paid attention to you and in a day of yeshuwah I surrounded [enfolded, embraced, hugged] you.”

2nd Corinthians continued: LO! now is a favorable time. LO! now is a day of soterias.

Romans 1.16: For I am not ashamed of the euaggelion of the Christou for it is the dunamis of Theos to soterian to the whole population pisteuonti [having faith]; first to the Jew and also to the Greek [everyone else]. For in it, the dikaiosune [equity, justification, rightness] of Theos is uncovered (emergent from pisteos to pistin) just as has been written in Habakuk 2.4], “The dikaios [equitable, just, right] shall live by pisteos.”

HABAKUK 2.4 “The tsaddiyq [dikaios] shall live by his emunah [pistis].”

Romans 10.8: But what says it [the Pentateuch, first five books of the Old Testament]? “The rhema [word from God] is near you (in your mouth and in your heart).” That is the rhema of pistis (which we kerussomen [proclaim, herald]), that if you acknowledge [covenant] in your mouth the Kurios Jesus and pisteuses [have faith] in your heart that Theos awakened Him emergent from dead, you sothese [will be saved]. For with the heart one pisteuetai [holds faith] toward dikaiosunen and with the mouth one acknowledges [covenants] toward soterian. For the Graphe [Scripture, part of Old Testament] says, “Everyone pisteuon [having reliance, having faith] upon Him won’t be shamed down,” for there isn’t a distinction for the same Kurios of all of mankind (both of Jew and of Greek); wealth to all of those appealing to Him for “Everyone (whoever invokes the name [authority] of the Kuriou) sothesetai [will be safe; saved].”

Hebrews 7.23: In fact, there are many having been caused to be priests, being prevented to continue by death. But He has the priestly office, not to be passed on, because He remains to the age, therefore, He is also sozein [able to save] those to perfection (those drawing near to Theos via Him) ever living to intercede on their behalf.

Lesson 26 Amplified – HAMARTIA

HAMARTIA – HAMARTIAI

singular – plural

American: a miss (misses) of the mark, goal; offence(s), sin(s)

Hebrew Aramaic: chet (a crime); chataah (an offense or the expiation)

chattaah (an offense & the expiation); chattath (an offense [occasionally habitual] & the expiation

HAMARTANO

American: to miss the mark, goal; to err, to sin

Hebrew Aramaic: chata

HAMARTOLOS – HAMARTOLOI

singular – plural

American: one(s) missing the mark; sinner(s); criminal(s)

Our Father, Theos, is saddened when a person falls short of His goal for the individual, at that time.

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Galatians 1.3: Charis [Graciousness] and peace to you from our Father, Theos, and from our Kuriou Jesus the Christou (the One having given Himself over our hamartion, however He might tear us out emergent from the present, poerou [hurtful] age down [according] to the thelema [determination, choice, decision, decree] of our Theos and Father), Whose is the glory to the ages of the ages. Amen!

1st Corinthians 7.25: Now about virgins I haven’t command of the Kurios, but I give an opinion as one having had such mercy (through the Kurios) to be trustworthy. Then, I think that this is kalos [beautiful, virtuous] via the present constraint [distress] that it is kalos [beautiful, virtuous] for a man to be as he is. Have you been bound to a gune [woman, wife]? Do not seek to be loosed! Have you been loosed from a gune? Do not seek a gune! But if (indeed) you marry, you not hamartano. If a virgin marries, he does not hamartano. Yet such will have stress in the flesh, but I am trying to spare you this.

1st Corinthians 15.3: For I transmitted to you (in the first place) what I also received: that the Christos died over our hamartiai down to the Graphe [Scripture, part of Old Testament; Isaiah 53.5].

ISAIAH 53.5: But He [Jesus] was pierced for our pesha [rebellion], crumbled [crushed] for our avown [perversity]. The muwcar [chastisement] of our shalom [safety, peace, health, happiness, prosperity, friendship] was upon Him and with His chaburah [weals, welts, as from whiplash], we are raphah [mended, cured, healed]. We all (ourselves) like migratory herds taah [have vacillated, reeled, gone astray]. Each man has turned to his derek [way, road trodden] and YHWH has made to impinge upon Him [Jesus] the pesha of us all. He was nagas [driven as an animal, harassed] and He was brow-beaten but He not opened His mouth. As a rachel [ewe] to slaughter, He yabal [was flowed, carried, brought, led forth] and as a rachel face-to-face with her shearers is alam [tongue-tied, dumb, silenced], He not opened His mouth. From otser [constraint, confinement] and from mishpat [the verdict, sentence] He was taken and who shall siyach [ponder, consider] His dor [era, generation]? For He was cut off from the land of the alive [living] from [because of] the pesha of my [Isaiah’s] people; the blow struck Him. And He was given [put] with the morally wrong and His sepulcher with a rich man in His death, although He hadn’t done violence nor was deceit found in His mouth. But YHWH was pleased to crumble Him; to rub [wear out, sicken] Him. When You [YHWH] and He [Jesus] shall put [make] a guilt offering of His nephesh [psuche: soul, life , psyche], He shall see His spiritual zera [sperma: descendants]. He shall prolong His days and the pleasure of YHWH in His hand [power, means] shall push forth [prosper]. He shall see the fruit of the amal [wearing effort, stress] of His nephesh and be satisfied. Through knowledge of Himself My [YHWH’s] tsaddiyq [just, right] Servant shall make tsadaq [to be just, to be right] abundant [very, very many] and their avown He shall cabal [carry, bear]. Therefore, I [YHWH] will apportion to Him [Jesus] with the abundantly wealthy and with the powerful. He shall apportion the spoils [booty] because He emptied out His nephesh into death and was numbered with the pasha [those who break away, rebels] and He bore the chet of abundant [very, very many] and paga [impinged, made persistent intercession] for the pasha.

1st Corinthians 15.33: Do not be led astray! Kakia [Worthless] companionship morally shrivels chresth [useful] habits. Be aroused to fair deeds and not to hamartanete, for some of you have ignorance of Theos. I relate this for your shame.

2nd Corinthians 5.20: Accordingly, over [for the sake of] the Christou we are seniors [representatives] (as though Theos were parakalountos [inviting, exhorting] via us), we [I] beg over [for the sake of] the Christou, be reconciled to Theos. For the One not knowing hamartian (over us [for our sakes]) He [Father] made Jesus to be hamartian in order that we might be the dikaiosune [equity, justification, rightness] of Theos in Him [Jesus].

Romans 3.8: But if injustice demonstrates the dikaiosunen of Theos, what shall we say? The Theos inflicting orgen [violent passion, fury, rage, wrath] isn’t unjust, is He? (I speak down to natural man.) Let it not be caused to be! Otherwise, how will Theos krinei [judge, put on trial] the kosmon [universe, world, cosmos]? For if the truth of Theos super-abounded to His glory in my lie, why am I still krinomsi [judged] as an hamartolos? And why not say (just as we are [I am] slandered and just as some report me as saying), “Let us do kaka [worthlessness] in order that good may result.” Their krima [decision, judgment rendered, verdict] is endikon [just].

Romans 5.12: Therefore, just as via one man [Adam] hamartia entered into the kosmon and via hamartias death entered, so also death spread to all men because all committed hemarton. For until The Law was given, hamartia was in the kosmo but hamartia isn’t charged when there isn’t law. Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those not hamartesantas in the resemblance of Adam’s violation, who was a tupos [ die set, shaper, model, type] of Him impending [coming]. Conversely, the free charisma [gift, endowment, facility, deliverance] isn’t as the violation. For if by one’s violation the many died, much greater the charis [graciousness] and the dorea [gift] in chariti [graciousness] of the One Man (Jesus the Christou) super-abounded to the many. Now the gift isn’t as that [death] which came via the one hamartesantos, for in fact the verdict emergent from that one led to condemnation; but the free charisma emergent from the violations of many led to acquittal. For if by the violation of one, death reigned via the [that] one, much more those who receive the super-abundance of the charitos and the gift of dikaiosunes will reign in life via the One, Jesus the Christou. Then just as via one violation, condemnation came to all men, thus also via one dikaiomatos deed, dikaiosin of life came to all men. For just as via the one man’s disobedience, the many were designated hamartoloi, in that way, via the obedience of the One, the many will be dikaioi [designated just]. Now The Law sneaked in, in order that the deviation might increase and where hamartia increased, charis super-abounded in order that (just as hamartia reigned in death), in that way charis might reign via dikaiosunes to eternal life via our Kuriou Jesus the Christou.

Lesson 25 Amplified – BAPTIZO

BAPTIZO

American: to immerse, to submerge, to baptize

BAPTIZON

American: immersing, submerging, baptizing

BAPTISMA, BAPTISMAI

American: singular, baptism; plural, baptisms

BAPTISTES

American: baptizer

Baptism is for remission, forgiveness, pardon, cancellation of sins, the death of the old, natural person and the birth of the new, spiritual person.

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Galatians 3.26: For you are all sons of Theos via pistis [reliance upon, faith] in Jesus the Christo. For as many of you as ebaptisthete [were baptized] into the Christon, you put on the Christos. For as many of you as were baptizo into the Christos, you put on the Christos. There aren’t in [among] you Jews nor Greeks; there isn’t in you slave nor freeman [citizen]; there isn’t in you male nor female; for you are all one in the Christo Jesus. Now, if you are of the Christou then you are spermai [descendants] of Abraham; even heirs down to epaggelian [announcement, proclamation, promise].

1st Corinthians 10: I not want you to be ignorant, Brothers, that all our forefathers were under the pillar of cloud and all passed via the Red Sea [Gulf of Aqaba]. All were ebaptisanto to Moses in the cloud and in the Sea and all ate the same spiritual food [manna] and drank the same spiritual beverage. For they drank of [from] an accompanying spiritual Rock and the [that] Rock was the Christos.

Romans 6: What shall we say then? Shall we remain in hamartia [missing the mark, goal; offense, sin] to make more charis [graciousness]? Not let it be caused to be! How shall we who died to hamartia still live in it ourselves? or don’t you know that all who ebaptisthemen into Christon Jesus were ebaptisthemen into His death? We certainly were buried with Him via baptismatos into death, in order that just as the Christos was awakened emergent from dead via the glory of the Father, in this way we also may walk in renewal of life. For if we have been caused to be intimately united with the resemblance of His death, conversely, we shall also be intimately united with His anastaseos [standing up again, resurrection]; knowing this: that our antique man [old self] was crucified in company with Him in order that our soma of hamartias might be rendered totally idle (in order that we no longer would be slaves to hamartia) for the one having died off dedikaiotai [has been made just] off of hamartias. Now if we died with the Christo, we pisteuomen [have faith] that we shall also live with Him, knowing that the Christos, having been aroused emergent from dead, dies no more. Death no more lords it over Him. For that He died, He died to hamartia once but in that he lives He lives to Theos. In this way, you also count yourselves to be (in fact) dead to hamartia but alive to Theos in our Kurio Jesus the Christo.

Luke 3.15: Now while the people were all anticipating and thoroughly reckoning in their hearts concerning John (if perhaps He is the Christos), John began to speak to everyone, saying, “I (in fact) baptizo you with water but He comes after me Who is more forcible [powerful] than me, the strap of Whose sandals I am not fit to loosen. I am subordinate to Him. He will baptisei you in the Hagios Pneuma and in fire; Whose winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly cleanse [purge] His threshing floor. And the grain He will collect into His granary, but He will burn the chaff down under unextinguished [unextinguishable] fire.”

Luke 7.28: Jesus says, For I say, not even one in [among] those born of woman is a larger [greater] prophetes [before-teller, prophet] than John the Baptistes but the mikroteros [small] one in the Kingdom of Theos is greater than he is.”

End of Twenty-fifth Lesson
