Lesson 41 Amplified – KOSMOS

KOSMOS

American: universe, world, cosmos

The American language has assimilated the Greek word “kosmos”, spelling it “cosmos”, and retaining the Greek meaning: universe or world.

Almost Greek:(Words in italics are translator’s additions.)

1st Corinthians 1.20: Where is the wise? Where is the grammateus [writer, recorder, scribe, secretary]? Where is the sophos [disputer, sophist] of this age? Didn't Theos make the wisdom of this kosmou foolish? For since (in the wisdom of Theos) the kosmos not knew Theos via wisdom, Theos was pleased (via the foolishness of kerugmatos [proclamation]) to sosai [make safe, save] those pisteuontas [having faith]. Jews ask for a semeion [sign, indication] and Greeks seek wisdom but we kerussouen [herald, proclaim] the Christou [Anointed One, Messiah, Mashiyah, Christ] having been crucified. To Judaeans He is a skandalon [stumbling block, snare, scandal] and to Greeks He is foolishness but to the invited ones (both to Jews and to Greeks [all non-Jews]) the Christon is the dunamin [force, power] and the wisdom of Theos. For the stupid one of Theos is wiser than men and the weak one of Theos is stronger than men. For in your calling, brothers, you see that not many are wise down to flesh; not many are dunatoi; not many are well-born, but Theos selected the stupid of the kosmou in order that He might make the wise ashamed. Theos selected the weak ones of the kosmou in order that He might make ashamed the forcible [strong, powerful]. Theos selected the ignoble and the despised and those not being in order that He might katargeo [render entirely idle, useless] those being, so that no flesh might boast before Him. Now, emergent from Him, you are in Jesus, the Christo, Who was caused to be (to us) wisdom from Theos, also dikaiosune [equity, justification, rightness] and purification and redemption!

1st Corinthians 5.9: I write to you (in this letter) not closely and habitually to associate with pornois [male prostitutes] but not entirely to shun all the pornois of this kosmou nor with the greedy nor with plunderers nor with idolaters. Therefore, you might think that I am telling you that you must issue forth emergent from the kosmou. But actually, I write to you not to associate with anyone if he is called a brother! who is either a pornos or greedy or an idolater or abusive or a drunkard or a plunderer. Do not eat with such! For what is it to me to judge those outside the faith? Don't you judge those inside the faith? Theos will judge those outside the faith. You shall exairo [remove] the poneros [hurtful] one from among yourselves. Verse 6: Dares anyone of you (having a matter against another of you) to be judged before the adikeo [unjust] and not before the hagion [holy ones, sacred ones, consecrated ones; saints]? Don't you know that the hagioi will judge the kosmon? And if the kosmos is judged by you, are you unworthy of small judgments? Don’t you know that we will judge aggeloi [messengers, angels]? (I’m not speaking of this present life.) If in fact then, you have judgments in this life, do you seat as judges those being least esteemed in the ekklesia? I say, “Shame on you!” Isn’t in you a wise one? Is not one in your midst who will be able to judge between his brothers?

Ephesians 6.10: For the rest, my brothers, be empowered in the Kurio and in the might of His strength. Put on the whole armor of Theos for you to be able to stand against the wiles of the diabolou [leader to shame, devil, satyr] because it isn’t us wrestling against flesh and blood, but against the chiefs, against the forces, against the kosmos-rulers of the shadiness of this age; against the pneumatika [spiritual] powers of ponerias [whoring, committing incest, doing non-marital sexual intercourse] above the sky! Because of this, take up the whole armor of Theos in order that you may be able to stand against [oppose] in the ponera [hurtful] day, and having worked out all, to stand.

1st Peter 1.17: And if you address, as Father, the One impartially judging down to each one’s work, in fear pass the space of time of your alien residence upon the earth, knowing that you weren’t redeemed with perishable silver or gold, emergent from your empty behavior handed down from fathers but with precious blood (as of an unblemished and unstained lamb), the blood of the Christou. He having been known beforehand (before the depositing [founding] of the kosmou) but revealed at the final space of time via [for the sake of] you; those having pisteuontas via Him into Theos, the One awakening Him emergent from dead and giving glory to Him in order that your pistin [faith] and elpida [expectation, hope] are into Theos.

1st John 2.12: I write to you, babes, because your hamartiai [misses of the mark or goal; errors, offences, sins] apheontai [have been sent forth, have been forsaken, have been forgiven] via His name [authority]. I write to you, fathers because you have known the One Who has been from the beginning. I write to you, youths because you have subdued the poneron [hurtful] one. I have written to you, children because you have known the Father. I have written to you, fathers because you have known the One Who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, youths because you are strong, and the Logos of Theos abides in you, and you have subdued the poneron one. Don’t agapate [unconditionally love] the kosmon nor the things in the kosmo. If anyone agapa the kosmon, the agape of the Father isn’t in him for all that is in the kosmo (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boasting of life) isn’t emergent from the Father but is emergent from the kosmou. Now, the kosmos and all its lust is being led away [or is going away] but he, doing the thelema [determination, choice, decision, decree] of Theos, abides to the age.

Lesson 40 Amplified – CHARAGMA

CHARAGMA

American: scratch, etching, tattoo, scar, mark; [microchip?]

Hebrew Aramaic: tav

Some Christians refer to this as the “mark of the beast”.

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions.)

Revelation 13.11: And I saw another beast going up emergent from the earth. It was like a lamb and had two horns and spoke like a dragon. And it does all the authority of the first beast in the face of [before] the same. And it makes the earth and those residing in it in order that they should proskunesosi [worship, as a dog licks his master's hand]the first beast (of which was healed its wound of death) and it does megala semeia [signs, indications] in order that it even makes fire [aurora borealis?] come down emergent from the ouranou upon the earth in the face of [before] men. And it causes those residing upon the earth to stray via the semeia which were given it to do (in the face of the first beast) saying to those residing upon the earth to make an eikona [image, likeness, statue, icon] to the beast which has the wound of the knife and lived. And it was given power to give a pneuma [wind, breath, spirit] to the eikoni of the first beast in order that even the eikon of the beast might speak and might make it happen, that as many as might NOT proskunesosi the eikona of the beast in order that they be killed. And it makes all (the mikrous [small, little, tiny, micro] and the megalous [big, large, huge, great] and the wealthy and the paupers and the freemen and the slaves) in order that it may give to them a charagma upon their right hand or upon their forehead and this in order that NO one could buy or sell unless having the charagma or the name of the beast or the number of the name of the same [bar code?]. Here is wisdom. The one having understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast for it is the number of a man and that number is 666.

Revelation 14.9: And a third aggelos [messenger, angel] followed them, saying in megale phone [sound, tone, noise, voice], “If anyone proskunei the beast and the eikona of the same and receives a charagma upon his forehead or upon his hand, he also shall drink emergent from the wine of the thumou [passion, anger, indignation] of Theos (having been prepared undiluted in the cup of His orges [violent passion, fury, rage, wrath]) and will be tortured in the fire and sulfur in the face of [before] the hagion aggelon and the face of the Lamb and the smoke of their torture goes up to ages of ages and hasn't pause day and night; those proskunountes the beast and the eikona of the same, even anyone who might receive the charagma of the name of the same. Here is a call for the cheerful endurance of the hagion; here are those keeping the commands of Theos and the pistin [faith] of Jesus.

Revelation 15.2: And I saw like a glassy [transparent] sea having been mixed with fire. And those subduing (emergent from the beast and from the eikonos of the same and emergent from the charagma of the same and emergent from the number of the name of the same) were standing upon the glassy sea having lyres of Theos. And they sing the song [Hebrew cantillation] of Moses (the slave of Theos) and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Megala and wonderful are Your works, Kurie, pantokrator [all-ruling, almighty, omnipotent] Theos. Dikaiai [equitable, just, right] and truthful are Your ways, Sovereign of the Hagion. Who won't fear You? Kurie and glorify Your name because only You are inherently right that all the ethne will arrive and proskunesousin in Your face because Your dikaiomata [equity, justification, rightness] was rendered apparent.”

Revelation 16.2: And the first aggelos went off and poured out his bowl upon the earth and it was caused to be a kakon [worthless] ulcer and poneron [hurtful] to the men having the charagma of the beast and those proskunountas the eikoni of the same.

Revelation 19.19: And I saw the beast and the sovereigns of the earth, and their armies being led together to make war amidst the One sitting down upon the white horse and amidst His army. And the beast was seized and amidst [with] this one the pseudoprophetes [false prophets], doing the semeia in the face of [before] the same in [with] which he caused those receiving the charagma of the beast to stray and those proskunountas the eikoni of the same. The two [Both] were thrown (living [alive]) into the Lake of Fire, burning in sulfur. And those remaining were killed in [with] the saber having gone forth emergent from the mouth of the One sitting down upon the white horse. And all the birds were gorged emergent from the flesh of the same.

Revelation 20.4: And I saw thrones and they that sat down upon them, and judgment was given to them. And the psuchas [souls, lives, psyches, egos] of those having been beheaded via their testimony of Jesus and via the Logon of Theos and which same hadn’t prosekunesan the beast NOR its eikona and hadn’t received the charagma upon their forehead and [nor] upon their hand and they lived and reigned amidst the Christou for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead [those in Hell?] didn't recover life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first anastasis [standing up again, resurrection]. Supremely blest and hagios is the one having a share in the first anastasis. Over these, the second death hasn't authority but, conversely, they will be priests of Theos and of the Christou and will reign amidst Him for a thousand years.

Lesson 39 Amplified – PENTEKOSTOS

PENTEKOSTOS

American transliteration: Day of Pentecost [a Hebrew Feast]

Jewish: Shavuot

According to Vine’s *, “PENTEKOSTOS, an adjective denoting fiftieth, is used as a noun, with “day” understood, that is the fiftieth day after the Passover, counting from the second day of the Feast.” The Day of Pentekostos was thelemai [decreed by Theos] to be a Feast day.

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions.)

Acts 2: Now in the fulfilling of the Day of Pentekostos, they were all unanimous at the same place. Unexpectedly (emergent from the ouranos [sky]) was an echos [noise], just as borne of a violent wind and filled up the whole dwelling where they were sitting. Themselves [They] stared wide-eyed at thoroughly partitioned tongues as of fire. It also sat upon each one of them and they were all filled of the Hagios Pneuma and began to utter words in different glossai, just as the Hagios Pneuma gave to them to enunciate.

Now, there were Jews residing in Jerusalem, pious [devout] men from every ethnos of those under the ouranos. Now, this phone being generated, the populace assembled and were confused because each one heard them speaking his own dialektos. Now, all were amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Lo! aren’t all these speaking Galileans? And how hear we each our own dialektos, in which we were born: Parthians, Medes, Elamites and those inhabiting Mesopotamia; both Judea and Capadocia, Pontus and Asia; both Phrygia and Pamphylia; Egypt and the regions of Libya over against Cyrene and alien-resident Romans; both Jews and proselutoi [non-Jewish converts to Judaism]; Cretans and Arabians. We hear them in our own glossai, articulating the magnificence of Theos.” And they were all astounded and were thoroughly disconcerted, one to another posing the question, “What do you suppose this to be?” But others scornfully posited, “It’s because they are drunk with new wine.”

But Rock (standing with the eleven) raised up his phone and plainly enunciated [declared] to them, “Men! Jews! and all those inhabiting Jerusalem, let this be known to you and take into your ear [listen to] my rhemai. For these men aren’t intoxicated (as you assume) for it is merely the third hour of the day [9 AM]. But this is the event being spoken via the prophetes Joel: ‘And it shall be in the final days,’ says Theos, ‘I will pour forth (from My Hagios Pneuma) upon all flesh and your sons and daughters will propheteuo [before tell, speak under inspiration] and your youths will stare wide-eyed at visions and your elders will dream dreams. And in those days (upon My male slaves and upon My female slaves), I will pour forth from My Hagios Pneuma and they will also propheteuo.

Joel 2.28: “…It will be afterward I will pour forth My Godesh Ruache [Hagios Pneuma] on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will naba [before tell, speak under inspiration]. Your old will dream dreams. Your youths will see visions. And in those days, on both My male slaves and My female slaves, I will pour forth MY Godesh Ruache. I will give mopheth [wonders, signs, omens] in the sky and on the earth; blood and fire and timarah [pillars, columns] of smoke. The sun will be turned over to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and awesome Day of YHWH. For it will be that all who qara [call out to, appeal to, invoke] the name [authority] of YHWH will malat [be smooth, slippery, escape] for in Mount Tsijon [Zion] and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance,” as YHWH has said, “and deliverance among the survivors to whom YHWH shall call out.”

Acts 4.31: And they having deomai [begged, pled], the place in which they were convened was rocked [shaken] and they were all filled with the Hagios Pneuma and spoke the logos of Theos amidst all-outspokenness [boldness].

Today (among Christians) the phenomenon described above is generally called “speaking in tongues”. A large segment of evangelical Christians practice this as a gracious gift from Theos. They consider this to be their personal prayer language, and that the intonations are articulated by the Holy Spirit, within them, using their vocal cords. They use this form of prayer when they feel unable to adequately express themselves or in intercession for another person. Some of them believe that their “tongue” or language is an unknown language Others, of them, believe that the language is used somewhere in the world but unknown to the one blessed with it. Some of them believe that the “tongue” is proof that the speaker has received the “baptism in the Holy Spirit”.

glassolalia = greek glassa [language]+ greek lalia [talking]

Lesson 38 Amplified – DIALEKTOS

DIALEKTOS -- DIALEKTOI

American singular: language, dialect -- plural: languages, dialects

These Koine Greek words are further preamble to what occurred on the Day of Pentecost after our Lord Jesus, the Christos, arose from death.

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Acts 1.15: Now, in these days, Rock stood up amidst the matheton [learners, pupils, disciples] (the crowd of the called-together was of about one hundred twenty persons) and said, “Men! brothers! this is to fulfill this Graphe [Scripture, part of Old Testament] (which the Hagios Pneuma foretold via David’s mouth) concerning Judas (the one becoming guide to those arresting Jesus) because being reckoned among us, he (with us) was assigned an allotment of this service. Now therefore, this one himself got a spot [plot, field] emergent from the wages of injustice, and falling headfirst, was caused to be split open in the middle and all his intestines poured forth. It also was caused to be known (to all those residing in Jerusalem), so that field was called (in their own dialekto [in this case Hebrew]), “Akeldama”, which is “Chorion Aimatos” [in Greek, “Field of Blood” in American], for it has been written in the Biblo of Psalms: ‘Cause his hut to be waste and NOT be anyone residing in it,’ and ‘another take his position as overseer.’”

PSALM 69.25: ...let their walls [fortress, house] become wasted and not let their tents become dwellings.

PSALM 109.8: ... let another take his official visitation.

Acts 2.5: Now, there were Jews residing in Jerusalem, pious [devout] men from every ethnous [nation, race, non-Jew, Gentile] of those under the ouranon [the sky, the heavens]. Now, these phones [sounds, tones, noises, voices] being generated, the populace assembled and were confused because each one heard them speaking his own dialekto. Now, all were amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “LO! aren’t all these speaking Galileans? and how hear we each our own dialekto in which we were born: Parthians, Medes, Elamites and those inhabiting Mesopotamia, both Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, both Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the regions of Libya over against Cyrene and alien-resident Romans; both Jews and proselutoi [non-Jewish converts to Judaism], Cretans, and Arabians. We hear them (in our own glossais) articulating the magnificence of Theos.”

Acts 21.37: Both of them being about to be introduced into the fortress, Paul said to the chiliarch, “Is it all right for me to say something to you?” Now, he said, “Do you know Greek? Then you aren’t the Egyptian who (before these days) caused a disturbance and had been leading out into the wasteland four thousand men of the dagger-men [Jewish fanatics outlawed by the Romans]?” Now, Paul said, “I in fact am a Jew, a Tarsian of Cilicia, a citizen of a NOT ignoble city. Now, I beg you, allow me to speak toward the people.” Now, he having allowed the same (standing upon the staircase), Paul swayed down his hands to the people. Now, much hushing [Shhhhing!] being caused to be, he addressed them in the Hebrew dialekto, saying, “Men! brothers! and fathers! now, hear my defense to you.” Now, hearing that he spoke the Hebrew dialekto to them, they presented [exhibited] silence.

Acts 26.9: Accordingly in fact, I thought to myself it was necessary to practice much opposite to the name of Jesus (the Nazarene) which I also did in Jerusalem. I both took to confinement many of the hagion [holy ones, sacred ones, consecrated ones; saints], receiving the privilege [authority] from beside the chief priests, and cast my ballot for their being done away [killed]. And many times (down all the synagogues) avenging [punishing] them, I forced them to superabundantly blasphemein [speak irreverently, speak profanely; blaspheme]. I both raged at them and pursued them as far as also to the outside cities (in which endeavor I was also traveling to Damascus, Syria) with authority and permission from beside the chief priests. At midday down the road, King Agrippa, I saw (from ouranothen above) a greater brightness than the sun illuminating all around me and those traveling with me. Now, all of us having fallen down to the earth, I heard a phone speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew dialekto, “Saul! Saul! why do you pursue [persecute] ME? It is tough for you to stubbornly dig in your heels against the prods.”
