Lesson 87 Amplified -- PSEUDOS

American: a falsehood, a lie

PSEUDES

American: false, deceitful, pseudo 

These Koine Greek words are used by themselves or as prefixes to nouns in the New Blood Covenant. Remember that double negatives are still negatives and are used for emphasis. 

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions) 

2nd Thessalonians 2: Brothers! we ask you over the coming of our Kurios Jesus, the Christos [Anointed One, Mashiyach, Messiah, Christ], and our gathering together to Him, not to waver in the nous [intellect, mind, understanding]; not to be frightened neither via pneuma [wind, breath, spirit] nor via logos [word] nor via letter (as if from me) as if the Day of the Christos is come. Let not even one person deceive you not (in no way) because unless the apostasia [defection from the truth, apostasy] comes first and the man of hamartia [misses of the mark or goal, errors, offenses, sins] is revealed (the son of destruction, he who is opposite to Theos and is exalting himself over everything relating to Theos or object of worship), to sit down in the Temple of Theos, as if Theos (showing that he himself is a theos), the Day of the Christos hasn’t come. Don't you remember that I told you these things while I was still with you? And now, you know that one is holding down his being revealed until his set time. For the musterion [secret, mystery] of anomias [lawlessness] is already active. Now, he is merely holding him down until it comes into being emergent from the middle. Then the anomos [lawless one] will be revealed, whom the Kurios will destroy by the pneumati [breaths, spirits] of His mouth and katargesei [render him entirely idle or useless] by the manifestation of Himself at His return; of whom [him, the lawless one] is the parousia [coming] down of the energeian [efficiency, energy] of Satanas in all dunamis [force, power] of pseudes semeia [signs, indications] and terasi [wonders] and with all unjust delusions in the lost because they not received the agape of the truth, whereby they might sothenai [be made safe, be saved]. Because of their rejection of the truth, Theos will send to them fraudulent energeian for them to pisteusai [to put their faith in], pseudes in order that all those not pisteusantes [relying, putting their faith] in the truth but having approved injustice, may be condemned. 

Galatians 2: Then, via [after] fourteen years, I again went up to Jerusalem with Joses [“Aid”] Bar Nabas and also taking along Titus [“Honorable”]. Now, I went up, down to [because of] a revelation and I put before them the euaggelion [good news, evangel, gospel] that I kerusso [proclaim, herald] in [among] the ethnoi [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] but privately to those seeming to be pillars lest somehow (leaping into vanity) I run, or I ran. Conversely, not even Titus (he with me, being a Greek) was compelled to be circumcised. But the idea that gentiles should be circumcised was smuggled in via [by] those pseudadelphos [false brothers], who stole in to spy on our freedom that we have in Jesus, the Christo. They desire utterly to enslave us, to whom we not yielded in subjection to them for even an hour in order that the truth of the euaggelion might continue with you.

 

1st Timothy 4: Now, the Hagios Pneuma distinctly says that (in later times) some will desist from the pisteos, paying attention to vagrant pneumasi [spirits] and teachings of demons. In pseudologon [lying] hupokrisei [deceit, hypocrisy], having their conscience cauterized, they are barring marriage and advocating abstaining from foods which Theos made to participation amidst eucharistias [gratefully giving thanks] by those pistois [trustworthy, faithful] and recognizing the truth. For every creation of Theos is kalon [beautiful, virtuous] and not even one thing is to be cast off. Having been received amidst euchariston, it is hagiazetai [made holy, sanctified] via the Logou of Theos and enteuxis [supplication, prayer]. 

1st John 2.18: Youths! it is the final hour and just as you heard that the antichristos is coming, even now many antichristoi have come to be, from which you know that this is the final hour. They issued forth emergent from us, but they weren’t emergent from us for if they were emergent from us, they would have abode amidst us but in order that it might be rendered apparent that not all of them are emergent from us, they went forth from us. Now, you have an anointing from the Hagios One and you know all. I haven’t written to you because you don’t know the truth but because you do know it and because all pseudos aren’t emergent from the truth. [No lies are emergent from the truth.] Who is the liar if not the one avowing that Jesus isn’t the Christos? This is the antichristos, the one disavowing the Father and the Son. All disavowing the Son haven’t the Father either; the one acknowledging the Son also has the Father. Accordingly, let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you will abide both in the Son and in the Father. And [Now] this is the epaggelia [announcement, proclamation, promise] which He epeggeilato to us, eternal life! These words I have written to you concerning those causing you to stray. Also, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you and you haven’t need that anyone teach you; rather His anointing teaches you concerning all and is true and isn’t pseudos. Just as He taught you, abide in Him! And now, babes! abide in Him in order that whenever He is rendered apparent [returns?], we may have all outspokenness [frankness] and not be disgraced from Him in His being present. If you know that He is dikaios [equitable, right, just], know that everyone doing His dikaiosunen [equity, justification, rightness] has been begotten emergent from Him. 

Revelation 21.22: And I not saw a temple in it for the Pantokrator [all-ruling, almighty, omnipotent] Kurios is the Temple of it; also, the Lamb. And the city hasn't need of the sun nor of the moon in order that they lighten in it for the glory of Theos brightened it up and its Lamp is the Lamb. And the ethne of those sozouenon [made safe, saved] will walk all around in the light of It. And the sovereigns of the earth bear their glory and timen [value, esteem] into it. And the gates of it may not (in no way) be closed by day for night won't be there and they will bear the glory and timen of the ethnon into it. And not (in no way) may enter into it all [any] profaning and [nor] any making detestation and [nor] pseudos; none except those whose names have been written in the Lamb’s Biblos [Roll, Scroll, Book] of Life.

 

Revelation 22.14: “Makarioi [Supremely blest] are those doing His commands in order that theirs will be the privilege of the Tree of Life and they may enter the gates into the city. But outside are the kunes [dogs] and the pharmakoi [drug dealers] and the pornoi [male prostitutes] and the phoneis [murderers] and the eidololatrai [idol servers, idolaters] and all philon [loving] and poion [making or doing] pseudos.”

Lesson 85 Amplified -- HUPOKRISIS

HUPOKRITAI

American plural: deceivers, hypocrites 

Certainly, deception is great wickedness and much of the New Blood Covenant contains warnings to reject the hypocritical.

Galatians 2.11: Now, when Rock came to Antioch, Syria I opposed him to his face because he was to be found at fault. For before the coming of some from James, he ate with the ethnon [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, being afraid of those emergent from the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews hupostello [withheld under {out of sight}, covered or shrank back] with him, so that even Joses Bar Nabas was led away with their hupokrisei [deceit, hypocrisy]. Conversely, when I saw that they not walked straight-footed beside the truth of the euaggelion [good news, gospel, evangel], I said to Rock (in front of all), “If you (being a Jew) did live as a non-Jew and not judaically, why do you show the ethne how to become Judaean?”

 

Luke 6.39: Now, He spoke a parable to them: “I ask whether or not (at all) a blind person is able to show the way to a blind person? Won’t both fall into a hole? A mathetes [learner, pupil, disciple] isn’t above his teacher but having been thoroughly completed, all will be as their teachers. Now, why do you look at the straw in the eye of your brother but not perceive the timber in your own eye? Or how are you able to say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me eject the straw in your eye,’ while you not look at the timber in your own eye. Hupokrita! first eject the timber emergent from your own eye and then (when you recover full vision) eject the straw in your brother’s eye. 

Luke 11.42: [Jesus speaking] “Conversely, woe [grief] to you, Pharisees because you tithe the mint and the rue and every plant and pass by [miss] the krisin [decision, judgment rendered, verdict] and you miss the agapen of Theos. These you must do and likewise, those not aphiemai [send forth, forsake, forgive]. Woe to you Pharisees because you agapate the chief seat in the synagogue and the greetings in the marketplace! Woe to you Pharisee grammateis [writers, recorders, scribes, secretaries], hupokritai! because you are as the hidden tombs and the men are walking all around over them, not knowing they are there.” 

Luke 12: In that the assembled thousands of the throng also trampled down one another, He began to say to His mathetas, “Firstly, pay attention to [guard] yourselves from the ferment [leaven] of the Pharisees which same is hupokrisis. Now, not one thing being completely concealed is [exists], which won’t be uncovered, and private, which won’t be absolutely known. Instead, that as much as you said in obscurity, it will be heard in luminousness and what you spoke to the ear in a private room will be keruchthesetai [proclaimed, heralded] upon the housetops.

 

Luke 12.54: Now, He also said to the throngs, “Whenever you see a cloud arising from the west, you directly say, ‘A thunderstorm is coming’ and it is caused to be so. And whenever a south wind is strongly blowing, you say that it will be glaring [hot] and it is caused to be. Hupokritai! you know how to test the face of the ouranou [elevations, the heavens, the sky, aloft] and the earth but how come you not test this time? Now, why don’t you distinguish the dikaion [equitable, just, right] even off [among] yourselves? For in the manner that you lead away (amidst [with] your adversary) to a chief, in [on] the way give efforts [try] to be released [freed] from him, lest he drag you down toward a judge and the judge will surrender you to the official collector and the official collector throw you into confinement. I say to you, not (in no way) may you issue from there until you give up [pay] the last lepton [cent].”

 

Luke 13.13: And He put His hands on her, and she instantly was straightened up and she glorified Theos. But the director of the synagogue services (being indignant that on the sabbath Jesus had cured the woman) said to the assemblage, “Six days they [there] are in which one must work. Accordingly, in these days be coming to be cured and not on the day of the sabbath.” Accordingly, the Kurios answered him and said, “Hupokrita [Deceiver, Hypocrite]! Don’t each of you, on the sabbath, untie your ox or your ass from the manger and lead them off to give them a drink? Now, this woman being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satanas bound Lo! eighteen years! mustn’t she be loosed from this bond [shackle] on the day of the sabbath?”

Just as it has been written, ‘This people prize Me with their lips but keep their heart far away from Me, but they revere Me in futility, teaching the commands of men as teachings.’” 

1st Peter 2: Accordingly, putting away all kakian [worthlessness], all dolon [decoying, trickery], all hupokriseis and all phthonous [ill will, spite] and all defamation, as newborn infants yearn for true logikon [logical, rational] milk in order that you may grow in it; if perhaps you have tasted that the Kurios is chrestos [useful]. Drawing near to Him (a living Stone), (in fact) under men having been rejected, but in the proximity [sight] of Theos, select [elect] -- precious. You also, as living stones, are being constructed into a spiritual dwelling, a hagion [holy, sacred, consecrated] priestly fraternity, to offer up spiritual sacrifices well-received by Theos via Jesus, the Christou. For this is also included in the Graphe [Scripture, part of Old Testament]:Lo! I place in Zion an elect, precious Cornerstone. The one pisteuon [having faith] upon Him shan’t at all be shamed down.” 

Matthew 6.2: [Jesus speaking] “Accordingly, when you do compassionate deeds, don’t trumpet before you, just as the hupokritai do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be glorified by men. Amen! I say to you, they have their wages in full. But you (when doing compassionate deeds) not let your left hand know what your right hand does, so that you may do your compassionate deeds in secret and your Father, seeing them in secret, the Same will give back to you in public.” 

Matthew 23.27: [Jesus speaking] “Woe to you! grammateis and Pharisees! hypocritai! because you resemble whitewashed crypts which indeed externally appropriately shine but inside swell out with bones of the dead and all impurity. In this way indeed you also externally shine (as if dikaioi) to men but inside you are replete with hupokriseos and illegality.”

Lesson 84 Amplified -- TERATA

Only the plural of this Koine Greek word is used in the New Blood Covenant. The first quotation, below, is from the Old Blood Covenant.

Isaiah 8.18: “Lo! I and the children (whom YHWH has given to Me) are for an owth [semeion, sign, indication] and mopheth in Israel from YHWH of the Hordes of Heaven Who dwells in Mount Zion.”

 

Acts 2.14: But Rock (standing with the eleven) raised up his phonen [sound, tone, noise, voice] and plainly enunciated [declared] to them, “Men! Jews! and all those inhabiting Jerusalem, let this be known to you and take into your ear [listen to] my rhemata [utterances]. For these men aren’t intoxicated as you assume for it is merely the third hour of the day [9 AM]. But this is that even being spoken via the prophetou [before teller, prophet] Joel: ‘And it shall be in the final days,’ says Theos, ‘I will pour forth (from My Pneuma [wind, breath, spirit]) upon all flesh and your sons and daughters propheteusousin [will before tell, will speak under inspiration, will prophesy] and your youths will stare wide-eyed at visions and your elders will dream dreams. The sunshine will be changed to shadowiness [an eclipse] and the moon into blood [an eclipse] prior to the coming of the megalen [big, large, huge, great] and notable Day of the Kuriou. And it shall be that all (whoever epikalesetai [calls out to, appeals to, invokes] the name [authority] of the Kuriou) sothesetai [will be rescued, will be saved].’”

 

JOEL 2.28: “… afterward It will be, I will pour forth My Ruwach [Pneuma] upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will naba [prophetueo]. Your old will dream dreams. Your youths will see visions. And in those days (on both My male slaves and My female slaves), I will pour forth My Ruwach. I will give mopheth in the sky and on the earth, blood and fire and timarah [pillars, columns] of smoke. The sun will be turned over to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and awesome Day of YHWH. For it will be that all who qara [epikalesetai] the name of YHWH will malat [be smooth, be slippery, escape] for in Mount Tsijon [Zion] and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance,” as YHWH has said, “and deliverance among the survivors to whom YHWH shall call out.”

 

Acts continues 2.22: “Men! Israelites! hear these logous [words]: Jesus, the Nazarene, is a man from Theos, having been exhibited [accredited] to you by dunamesi [powerful] deeds and terata and semeia, which Theos did, via Him, in your midst, just as you know.

 

Acts 2.43: And fear was caused to be in every psuche [soul, life, psyche, ego] and many terata and semeia were caused to be via the apostolon.

 

Acts 5.12: Now, semeia and terata were caused to be in many people via the hands of the apostolon and they were all homothumadon [unanimous, with one mind] in the Temple’s Porch of Solomon. Now, of the remaining ones, not even one dared to be joined to them, conversely, the people magnified [declared great] them. Now, more were added, throngs both of men and of gunaikon [women], pisteuontes [putting their faith in] the Kurio, such that they carried out the strengthless and placed them upon couches and upon mattresses down the wide plats [places] in order that (while he was coming [passing]) Rock’s shadow might overshadow some of those. Now, also the populaces of the towns all around were assembled in Jerusalem, carrying the strengthless and those being mobbed [harassed] by impure pneumaton, who were all healed.

 

Acts 7.35: “This, the Moses whom they had contradicted (saying, ‘Who set you down a ruler and a judge?’), this Moses Theos has sent (both a ruler and a redeemer) in [by] the hand of the Aggelos [Messenger, Angel] wide-eyed stared at in the desert in the thorn shrub. This one led them forth, doing terata and semeia in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea [Gulf of Aqaba, between the Sinai Peninsula and Saudi Arabia] and in the wasteland for forty years. This is the Moses saying to the sons of Israel, ‘The Kurios will stand up for you a Propheten, like me, emergent from your brothers. Him you shall hear [heed].’” 

Acts 14: Now, it was caused to be (in Iconium) that down themselves [together] they entered into the synagogue of the Jews and spoke, as before in Antioch, Pisidia and a large throng pisteusai [had faith]; both of the Jews and of the Greeks. But the apiethountes [being without-faith] Jews incited and injured [made wicked] the psuchas of the ethnon [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] down [against] the brothers. Properly therefore, they spent considerable time there, frankly [boldly] speaking [preaching] on the Kurio, testifying to the logo [word] of His charitos [graciousness] and giving semeia and terata which were caused to be via their hands. But the populace of the city was divided, and some were with the Judaeans, but others were with the apostolois. Now, a violent impulse [riot] was caused to be of the ethnon and (also) of the Judaeans, coming with their chiefs to abuse and to stone them. Having been informed, they fled down to the cities of Lystra and Derbe, in Lycaonia, Asia Minor and the surrounding region and there they euaggelizomenoi [were announcing good news, were evangelizing].
