Lesson 126 Amplified -- SACRIFICE

 THUSIA

American: animal sacrifice

Hebrew Aramaic: zebach

THUO

American: to sacrifice or to kill an animal

Hebrew Aramaic: chataah

American: offering for sin

The Old Blood Covenant (Old Testament) was ratified with the slaughter of animals. Genesis 15.9 And He [YHWH] said to him [Abram], “Take for Me a three-year-old heifer, and a three-year-old she-goat and a three-year-old ram and even a nestling dove.” And he took for Him all these and he divided [split] them in the middle and he laid each piece opposite its neighbor, but the bird he not divided. And down came the birds of prey on the carcasses and Abram drove them away. And it was the sun setting and a deep sleep fell on Abram. And LO! A terror of great darkness falling on him. And HE said to Abram, “You must surely know that alien [Israelites living in Egypt] shall your zera [sperma] be in a land not to them [theirs] and your seed will serve them. And they will afflict them for four hundred years. And (also), I will judge the nation whom they shall serve and after that [400 years] they will come out with great substance. And you shall know [come to] your forefathers in shalom [safety, peace, health, happiness, prosperity, friendship]; you shall be buried in a good old age. And [Then] in the fourth generation, they will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full [complete]. And LO! The sun had gone down, and it was dark. LO! [Abram saw] A small furnace and a torch of fire that passed between the pieces of these animals in the day that YHWH cut a covenant with Abram.

So, the shedding of the blood of animals ratified the Old Testament, but the New Testament [New Blood Covenant] was ratified with the blood of our Lord Jesus the Christ [Anointed One, Messiah], the Only-given-birth, Son of Theos.

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

1st Corinthians 5.6: Your boast is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven leavens the whole mass of dough? Then thoroughly cleanse away the old leaven in order that you may be a new mass of dough, just as if you are unleavened. For our Passover Lamb, the Christos, ethuthe [was sacrificed] for us. So, let us keep feast, not with old leaven; not with leaven of kakia [worthlessness] and of ponerias [depravity]; conversely, with the unleavened bread of clarity and of truth.

1st Corinthians 10.15: Distinguish what I say. Isn’t the cup of eulogias [fine speaking, commendation, blessing, eulogy] that with which we eulogoumen [speak well of, praise, bless] a koinonia [sharing, partnership] in the blood of the Christou? Isn’t the bread which we break a koinonia in the somatos [body] of the Christou? Because of the One Bread, we many are one soma, for we all share the One Bread. Look at Israel. Down to flesh, aren’t those eating the thusia koinonia in the altar. What then, do I say that an eidolon [image for worship, idol] is something? but what an ethne thuo, they thuo to demons and not to Theos. I not want you to be caused to be koinonia of demons. You can’t drink the cup of the Kuriou [Lord. Master] and the cup of the demon! You can’t share of the table of the Kuriou and the table of the demon! Or do we incite the Kurion  to rivalry? We aren’t stronger than Him, are we?

Luke 22.7: Now, came the day of unleavened bread (in which thuesthai [must be sacrificed] the Passover Lamb). And He sent forth Rock and John, saying,

“Go to prepare for us the Passover meal in order that we may eat it.”

Acts 7.42: [YHWH] ….. As it has been written in the Biblio [sheets, rolls, scrolls, book] of The Prophetoni [The Prophets], “Victims and thusias [sacrifices] you not brought to Me (for forty years in the wasteland) O house of Israel. Also, you took up from Egypt the tent of Moloch [in Greek; “Molek” in Hebrew; “An Idol” in American] and the constellation of your theou [god] Remphan [incorrect Greek transliteration of Kijun, an Egyptian idol]; the die-made [cast] statues which you plunged [poured, cast] proskunein [to worship, as a dog licks his master’s hand] them and I will exile you to the other side of Babylon.”

AMOS 5.26: [YHWH] “Did you bring near to Me zebach and portion [tithing] (driving for forty years in the desert) O house of Israel? Yes, you lifted [bore] the booth of your king and Kijun; your images; the stars of your elohiym [gods] which you made for yourselves. Therefore, I will metoikio [move as settlers or captives; exile] you to the distance of Damascus, Syria,” says YHWH. The Elohiym of Shamayin [Ouranos, Heaven] is His name.

Hebrews 5: For every high priest (having been taken out of men) is appointed on behalf of men (in the matters as to Theos) in order that he may offer both gifts and thusias on behalf of hamartion [misses of the mark or goal; errors, offenses, sins]; being able to feel in due measure for those not knowing and being led astray, since he also is encompassed by feebleness. For this reason, he ought to offer (on behalf of hamartion) as concerning the people; so also, concerning himself. No one takes the timen [value, esteem, dignity] to himself, except the one being called by Theos [Father God; Hebrew: El]; in fact, even as Aaron was called. So also, the Christos [Mashiyach] not glorified Himself to be caused to be a high priest but the One speaking to Him did so: “YOU ARE My Son! Today I gegeneka [have created, have given birth to] You.”

Hebrws 7.26: For such a High Priest was fitting to us; hagios, akakos [without worthlessness], undefiled, having been separated from hamartolon and being caused to be higher than the ouranon [heavens, skies], Who hasn’t need (as do the high priests) to offer thusias down day by day (firstly, for their own hamartion, then for those of the people). For He did this once for everyone, offering Himself up. For The Law [Pentateuch, 1st Five Books of the Old Testament, Books of Moses] appoints men (having infirmity) high priests but the logos of the oath-taking, after the giving of The Law, appoints a Son having been perfected to the age.

Hebrews 8: Now, a summary of the words being said: “We have such a High Priest, Who sat [sits] at the right of the throne of the Megalosunes [Majesty] in Ouranoi [Heavens]; a minister of the hagion [holy ones, sacred ones, consecrated ones; saints] and of the true tabernacle which the Kurios (and not man) raised up. For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and thusia, from which it is also necessary for this One to have something that He may offer. For if (in fact) He were on earth, He wouldn’t even be a priest; there being those priests offering gifts down to The Law.

[Only descendants of Levi were earthly priests; Jesus was a descendant of Judah.]

Hebrews 9.21: Likewise, he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the service vessels with blood. Almost all is cleansed by blood down to The Law and no remission comes without blood-shedding; thus, it was needful for the articles to be truly examples of those in the Ouranois [Heavens], to be cleansed with these [blood] but the heavenly articles themselves are cleansed by better thusiais [sacrifices] than these. For the Christos entered the “Hagia of Hagion” not made with hands (which are figures of the true entities) but He entered into Ouranon itself, now to appear in the presence of Theos, for us. Not that He should offer Himself often, even as the high priest enters into the “Hagia of Hagion” down to year by year with blood of others (since He must have [would have] often suffered from the founding of the kosmou) but now once! at the completion of the ages. He has been revealed for the putting away of hamartias via thusias of Himself. As it is reserved to men once to die and after this, krisis [decision, judgment rendered, verdict], so the Christos (having been offered once to bear the hamartias of many) will appear a second time (without bearing hamartias) to those expecting Him into [for] soterian [rescue, safety, salvation].

Hebrews10: For having The Law is having a shadow of the coming good; not itself the eikona [image, likeness, statue, icon] of those things. Not even one of them [the priests] is able to perfect those drawing near with the same thusia which they continually offer down to year by year, otherwise, wouldn’t they have ceased being offered because those serving not still having conscience [consciousness] of hamartion, having once been cleansed? But in them is a remembrance of hamartian, down to year by year. It is impossible for blood of bulls and goats to take away hamartias. For this reason, He says,

“Thusia and prosphoran [a presentation, an offering] You not desired but You prepared a human soma for Me. You weren’t pleased with whole-consumed [burnt offerings] and thusia as to hamartias. Then I said, ‘LO! I come’ (It has been written about Me In the heading of the Bibliou [Bible].), ‘Theos, to do Your thelema [determination, choice, decision, decree].’”

PSALM 40.6: Zebach and minchah [apportionment] You didn’t desire. You have opened ears to Me. Zebach and chataah You haven’t requested. Then I said, ‘LO! I come;’ in the Megillach [Roll, Scroll, Bible], it is written of Me. ‘I delight to do Your delight, My Elohiym.’”

[Hebrews continues] Saying above,

“You not desired, nor were pleased with thusia and prosphoran as to hamartias (which are prospheran [borne toward, brought near to an altar] according to The Law),” then He said, “LO! I come to do Your thelema, Theos.”

He takes away the first [1st Blood Covenant, Old Testament] in order that He may set up the second [2nd Blood Covenant, New Testament], by which Will and Testament we hegiasmenoi [are made holy, are sanctified] via the prosphoras of the somatos of Jesus, the Christou [Mashiyach]; once for everyone. Every priest stands (down to day by day, as a public servant), serving and often prospheron the same thusia of which not even one can take away hamartias. But He, prosenelkas [having offered] One thusia on behalf of hamartion, in perpetuity sat down at the right of Theos; from then, accepting [awaiting] until His enemies are placed as a stool for His feet. For by One prosphora He has perfected (in perpetuity) those hagiazomenous [being made holy, being sanctified]. The Hagios Pneuma also testifies to us. For after having said before,

“After these days, this is the blood covenant which I covenant to them,” says the Kurios, “Giving My laws on their hearts and I will write them on their dianoion [deep thought, understanding] and not (in no way) will I still remember their hamartion and their lawless deeds.”

Now, where there is aphesis [forgiveness] of these, there is no longer prosphora concerning hamartias.
