MANKIND
In
American we generally use the term “mankind” in reference to human beings.
Christian religions generally consider man (or woman) to be made up of three
elements: [Koine Greek] soma, psuche and
pneuma [simplified American: body, soul and spirit].
Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]
Genesis 2.7: YHWH Elohiym [Triune God] formed Adam [his soma] of dust from the ground and blew into his nostrils neshamah [pneuma] of life and Adam was caused to be a living nephesh [psuche].
1st Thessalonians 5.23 May the Theos of peace Himself make you absolutely, perfectly hagios [holy, sacred, consecrated], perfectly sound in your pneuma and that your psuche and your soma may be faultlessly kept in [at] the return of our Kurios Jesus the Christos. He calling you is worthy of your pistis [reliance upon, faith] Who also will do the fulfilling of your call.
