What is the most negative adjective in the New Testament? It is kakos! Most published translations use the word “evil” a great deal, but evil isn’t found in the NEW TESTAMENT. The word that is translated as “evil” is kakos. 

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.] 

1^st Corinthians 5.6: Your boast is not good. Don’t you know that a little leaven leavens the whole mass of dough? Then thoroughly cleanse away the old leaven in order that you may be a new mass of dough (just as if you are unleavened). For our Passover Lamb was sacrificed for us; the Christos. So, let us keep feast, not with old leaven; not with leaven of kakia and of ponerias [depravity]; conversely, with the unleavened bread of clarity and of truth.

 

1^st Corinthians10: I: not want you to be ignorant, Brothers, that all our forefathers were under the pillar of cloud, and all passed via the Red Sea [Gulf of Aqaba]. All were ebaptisanto [baptized] to Moses in the cloud and in the Sea and all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual beverage. For they drank of [from] an accompanying spiritual Rock and the [that] Rock was the Christos. But Theos didn’t think well of most of them, for [that’s why] they were strewn down in the wasteland. These were our examples, for us not to be cravers after the kakon, as even (in fact) those craved; neither be idolaters (as even some of them were), as has been written, “The people sat to eat and to imbibe and stood up to play.”

 

EXODUS 32.6: Aaron made of it [the gold jewelry] a cast calf. And they said,

“These are your elohiym, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.”

Aaron saw this, and he built an altar before it. And Aaron called out, “Tomorrow is a festival to YHWH.” They rose early on the morrow, and they offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. The people sat down to eat and imbibe wine and rose to laugh [play]. 

1^st Corinthians 14.20: Brothers! not be children in the nous [intellect, mind, understanding], but be like infants in kakia and be complete [mature] in the nous. It has been written in The Law [Pentateuch or Books of Moses; first five books of the OLD TESTAMENT], “In heteroglassois [other-tongues, foreign tongues] and in other [foreigners’] lips, I will speak to this people and in this way, they won’t listen to Me,” says the Kurios. 

ISAIAH 28.11: For with foreign lip and another tongue, He will speak to this people what He said to them: “This is the repose. Cause the flagging to rest. This is the rest.”

But they chose not to intelligently hear so the dabar [word] of YHWH to them shall be, “Command upon command upon command ….” 

2nd Corinthians 13.5: Examine yourselves to see if you are pistei [relying upon Jesus, having faith in Jesus]. Test yourselves! or don’t you yourselves perceive that Jesus the Christos is in you (unless you are unapproved [failed the test]). I elpizo [expect, hope] that you will know that we aren’t unapproved. I euchomai [wish; implies praying] to Theos that you not do kakon, noteven one hamartia; 

Romans 1.28: Just as they did not see fit to acknowledge Theos any longer, Theos surrendered them to their unapproved nous to do the improper, having been made full of the whole of injustice, porneia [whoring, incest, non-marital sexual intercourse],

greed, kakia; full of decay, killing, quarrels, deceit, kakoetheia, whispering slanderers, haters of Theos; insolent, arrogant, braggarts, inventors of kakion, defiant to parents, undiscerning, covenant breakers, astorge [without love for one’s family], truce breakers and merciless. Now although, those who engage in these offenses recognize what deeds are dikaioma [just, right] to Theos and that those practicing such things [things in the foregoing list] deserve death, nevertheless they aren’t merely doing them; conversely, they also admire those practicing them. 

Romans 12.9: Sincerely agape. Utterly detest poneron [hurtful], sticking [bonding] to good. In philadelphia [brotherly love], philostorgoi [love as family] one another. In time [dignity] lead the way for others in spoude [speed, alacrity, eagerness], not in laziness. Be serving the Kurio in zeontes [fervent, ardent] pneumati. Rejoicing in elpidi [expectation, hope]; persevering in stress; constantly in proseuche [humbly begging God, prayer]; sharing [contributing] to the need of the hagion [holy ones, saints]: pursuing hospitality. Elulogeite [Speak well of] those pursuing [persecuting] you; elulogeite [bless] and not put a curse upon them. Rejoice with the rejoicing and wail with the wailing. Have the same interest into all of one another, not only having interest in the lofty; conversely, yielding to the lowly. Not be caused to be wise near yourselves [in your own estimation]. Give back to no one kakon for kakou. Promote the kala [beautiful, virtuous] before all men. If possible (emergent from yourselves), be peaceable to all men. Not avenge yourselves, Agapetoi; conversely, give place [space, room] for the orge [violent passion, fury, rage, wrath] of Theos, for it has been written, “Revenge belongs to Me. I will repay,” says the Kurios. 

DEUTERONOMY 32.35: [YHWH] “... Revenge belongs to Me and recompense.”

 

[Romans 12 continued] “If one who hates you hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, irrigate him; for in doing this you will pile live coals of fire upon his head.”

 

PROVERBS 25.21: “Is your hater hungry, give him bread [food] to eat and if he is thirsty, irrigate him with water, for you shall heap glowing embers of fire upon his head and YHWH will reciprocate [repay, reward] you.”

[When a household’s fire went out, burning coals from a neighbor’s fire would be carried on a tray (on one’s head) to rekindle the fire. A man would love the man who relit his fire, wouldn’t he?]

 

[Romans 12 cont.] Not be subdued under kakou conversely, subdue kakon with good.

 

Romans 13.3: Rulers aren’t a cause of fears to those doing good works, but they are to the kakon. Now, do you want not to fear authority? Do good and you will have praise emergent from the same (for he is a servant of Theos for good to you) but in case you do kakon, do fear! for he not eike [idly, vainly] wears the sword (for he is a servant of Theos), a punisher to orgen of the one practicing kakon. Because of this, it is necessary to be in subjection, not merely because of orgen; conversely, because of conscience. For because of this, you also pay taxes, for they are public servants of Theos, devoted to this very task. Then give to all their dues: to the one due the tax, give the tax; to the one due customs duty, give customs duty; to the one due fear, give fear; to the one due timen [value, esteem], give timen. 

Colossians 3.5: Accordingly, make your limbs [members] (upon the earth) dead to porneian, depravity, impurity, pathos [passion], lust, kakia and avarice (which is idolatry); for which activities the orge of Theos is coming upon the sons of apeitheias [willful disbelief] in [among] whom you (then) also walked when you were living in these worthless practices. But now also you put them all aside: orgen, thumon [passion, anger, indignation], kakian, blasthemian [defamation, slander, vilification, blasphemy]; vile conversation emergent from your mouths. Don’t lie to one another, having totally divested yourselves of the antique man with his practices and having dressed yourself with the new man, being renovated into full discernment down to the eikona [image, likeness, statue, icon] of Him [Jesus]. He is the owner [fabricator] of him [you] where there isn’t Greek and Jew; circumcised and fore-skinned; barbarous [foreigner, non-Greek, barbarian], Scythene [savage], slave and freeman; but all and in all is the Christos.
