Lesson 107 Amplified -- ELEEO

 ELEEO

American: to have compassion upon, to have pity upon, to show mercy to 

ELEOS

American: compassion, pity, mercy 

We all know that Father God loves us unconditionally. But what about how He feels concerning us; individually? The New Blood Covenant gives us a peep into His feelings for us. 

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions.) 

1st Corinthians 7.25: Now, about virgins I haven’t command of the Kuriou but I give an opinion as one eleemenos [having had compassion, having had pity, having had mercy] (through the Kuriou) to be pistos [faithful]. Then I think that this is kalon [beautiful, virtuous] via the present constraint [distress] that it is kalon for a man to be as he is. Have you been bound to a gunaika [woman, wife]? Don’t seek to be loosed! Have you been loosed from a gunaikos? Do not seek a gunaika! But if indeed you marry, you not hemartes [miss the mark or goal; err, offend, sin]. If a virgin marries, he not hemarte. Yet such will have stress in the flesh, but I am trying to spare you this. But I say, brothers, that the time has been shortened in order that from now on, even those having gunaikas are as not having; those weeping as not weeping; those rejoicing as not rejoicing; those buying as not possessing and those using this kosmo [universe, world, cosmos] as not overusing it. For the mode [fashion] of this kosmou is passing away but I thelo [determine, choose, decide decree] you to be carefree. The unmarried cares for the things of the Kuriou (how to please the Kurio) but he having married cares for the things of the kosmou (how to please his gunaika). The gune and the virgin are different. The unmarried gune cares for the things of the Kuriou (in order that she be pure both in somati [body] and in pneumatic [breath, spirit]) but the married cares for the things of the kosmou (how she may please her man). This I say for your own benefit, not to put a noose [leash] on you; conversely, to promote the seemly and the waiting on the Kurio without distraction. 

Luke 1.46: Mary said,“My psuche [soul, life, psyche, ego] megaluno [makes or declares great] the Kurion and my pneuma [breath, spirit] jumps for joy over Theos my Soteri [Deliverer, Savior] because He gazed with favor upon the low estate of His slave. For LO! from now on all the generations me makariouai [will call supremely blest] for the Mighty One magnificently did to me and Hagiou is His name, and His eleos is to generations of generations of those fearing Him.”

“He mightily did in [with] His arm. He dispersed the haughty in the deep thoughts of their hearts. He pulled down rulers off their thrones and elevated those of low estate. He filled up the hungry of [with] good food and sent the wealthy away empty.”

“He autelabeto [succored, helped, relieved] His servant Israel to bear eleous in mind, just as He spoke to our forefathers; to Abraham and to his spermati [descendants] to the age.” 

Luke1.57: Now, Elizabeth was fulfilled the period of time for her to give birth and she delivered a son. And her neighbors and also her relatives, megaluno [declared mega] the Kurios and His eleos amidst her and they rejoiced with her. 

James 2.12: So, speak and so do as being about to be krinesthai [distinguished, judged, put on trial] via a law of liberty. For the one not doing [showing] eleos, the krisis [decision, judgment rendered, verdict] will be auileos [merciless] but eleos exults over kriseos. 

Ephesians 2: You being dead in the paraptomasi [side-slips, lapses, deviations] and in the hamartiais [misses of the mark or goal; errors, offenses, sins] in which you then walked, down to the age [course] of this kosmou; down to the ruler of the authority of the air; the pneumatos [spirit] now working in the sons of disobedience in whom we all, then [formerly] also conducted ourselves in the lusts of the flesh, doing things thelemata [determinations, decisions, choices, decrees] of the flesh and of the mind and were by nature children of orges [violent passion, fury, rage, wrath] even as the rest. But Theos being rich in eleei because of His much agapen [unconditional love] with which He egapesen us (we being dead in paraptomasi), He made us as alive with the Christo [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ]. (By charity [graciousness], you sesosmenoi [are being rescued, are being saved].) And He awakened us with and seated us with, Jesus, the Christo (above the sky [in Heaven]), in order that He might show (in the ages coming on) the surpassing riches of His charitos in chretoteti [kindness] toward us in Jesus, the Christo [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ]. For you sesosmenoi [are made safe, are saved] by charis [graciousness] via pisteos [reliance upon, faith in] Jesus and this isn’t of yourselves, it is the gift of Theos, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His doing, created in Jesus, the Christo, unto good works which Theos prepared beforehand in order that we should walk in them. 

2nd Timothy: Paul, an apostolos [delegate, ambassador, apostle] of Jesus, the Christou down to the thelematos [determination, choice, decision, decree] of Theos by way of an epaggelian [announcement, proclamation, promise] of life in Jesus, the Christo, to Timotheo [“Honoring God”] agapeto [unconditionally beloved] child.Charis, eleos, peace from Theos our Father and from our Kuriou, Jesus, the Christou. 

Mark 10.46: And they come into Jericho [“Place of Fragrance”], Judea. And He and the matheton [learners, pupils, disciples] and a sizeable throng departing from Jericho, the blind son of Timaeus (bar Timaeus) sat down near the road soliciting alms. And having heard that it is Jesus the Nazarene, he began kraxein [to caw as a raven, to shriek, to scream, to cry out] and to say, “Jesus! Son of David! eleeson [have compassion upon, have pity upon, show mercy to] me!” And many admonished him in order that he be silent but he much more ekrazen, “Son of David! eleeson to me!” And standing [stopping], Jesus said for him phonethenai [to be called to] Him. And they phonousi [called] the blind one, saying to him, “Have courage! Arise! He phonei [calls for] you.” Now, throwing off his outer garment, standing up, he came to Jesus. And beginning to speak, Jesus says to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind one said to Him, “Rabbi! I ask in order that I may recover my sight.” Now, Jesus says to him, “Go! your pistis sesoke [has made safe, has saved] you.” And he directly recovered his sight and accompanied Jesus on the road.
