Lesson 109 Amplified -- PITY

Previously, we studied splen in Amplified Lesson 81.Here we focus upon having pity and feeling sympathy.

2nd Corinthians 1.3: Adored be the Theos and Father of our Kuriou Jesus the Christou [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ], the Father of oiktirmon [pity] and the Theos of all parakleseos [invitation, imploration, urging, exhortation, encouragement, consolation]; the One parakalon [calling near, inviting, urging, exhorting, encouraging, consoling] us [me] over all our [my] stress for us [me] to be able to parakalein those in every kind of stress via the parakleseos of which we ourselves [I myself] parakaloumetha [are consoled] by Theos. 

Romans 9.14: What shall we say then, injustice isn’t with Theos is it? Not let it be caused to be for He says to Moses, “I eleeso [will have compassion, pity, mercy upon] whomever I eleo [have compassion pity, mercy upon]. I oikteireso [will pity] whomever I oikteiro.”

 

EXODUS 33.19: [YHWH] “... I will stoop to favor whom I will favor, and I will have compassion upon whom I will have compassion.” 

Romans 12: Accordingly, Brothers, I encourage you via the oiktirmon of Theos to present your somata [bodies] a living and hagian sacrifice (fully acceptable to Theos) which is your reasonable service of worship. 

Colossians 3.12: Accordingly, dress yourself in the manner of the chosen of Theos: hagioi [holies, saints] and egapemenoi [unconditionally loving], splen of oiktirmon, chrestoteta [usefulness], humility, gentleness, forbearance; enduring one another and forgiving yourselves. 

Philippians 2: Accordingly, if there is any paraklesis in the Christo, if any paramuthion [consolation] of agapes, if any koinonia [sharing, partnership] of the Hagios Pneuma, if any splen and splagchna, make my joy complete in order that you think the same [are of one mind]: having the same agapen, sumpsuchoi [one in psuche], one in thinking [opinion]. 

Luke 10.33: But a certain Samaritan came down to him and seeing him, he esplaggisthe [was filled with pity]. And approaching, he bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine upon them. 

Hebrews 10.26: For if we are voluntarily [willfully] hamartanonton [keep missing the mark or goal; keep erring, keep offending, keep sinning], after receiving the full knowledge of the truth, no more thusia [sacrifice] concerning hamartion remains but some awful edoche [expectation] of kriseos [accusation, condemnation, judgment] and hot fire being about to consume the adversaries. Anyone, disregarding the Law of Moses, dies without oiktirmon [pity] upon the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment (think you?) will he be thought worthy to receive, having trampled the Son of Theos and having deemed common the blood of the covenant by which he hegiasthe [was made holy, sanctified] and having insulted the Hagios Pneuma of charitos [graciousness]? For we know the One having said, “Vengeance is to Me. I will repay,” says the Kurios and again, “The Kurios krinei [will distinguish, will decide, will judge, will put on trial] His people.”Anyone disregarding the Law of Moses dies without oiktirmon, upon the testimony of two or three witnesses. 

Mark 8: In those days, the throng being immense and not having anything they might eat (summoning His mathetas [learners, pupils, disciples]) He says to them,

“I splagchnizomai [have yearning in the bowels, et cetera] on the throng because even now they remain with Me three days and haven’t anything they might eat.

 

Mark 9.23: And they brought him to Him. And seeing Him, the pneuma convulsed him. And falling upon the ground, he rolled about, frothing at the mouth. And He asked his father,

“How long a time is it that this has been caused to be to him?” Now he said, “From infancy and many times, it threw him both into fire and into water in order that it might fully destroy him. Otherwise, if You can do anything (splagchnistheis [have yearning in the bowels, et cetera] upon us) help us.”

 

Matthew 9.35: And Jesus took a walk all around the towns and the hamlets, teaching in their synagogues and kerusson [proclaiming, heralding] the euaggelion [good news, gospel, evangel] of the Kingdom and healing every malady and every weakness in the people. Now seeing the throngs, He splagchisthe concerning them because they were tired and were scattered just as sheep not having a shepherd.

 

Matthew 18.25: The same not having enough to repay, his kurios [lord, master] ordered him and his gunaika [woman, wife] and his children and all (as much as he had) sold and the funds used to repay him. Accordingly (falling down), the slave kissed his hand, saying, ‘Kurie! be patient over me and I will repay all to you.’ Now (splagchnistheis), the kurios of that slave fully freed him and sent forth the debt.
