Lesson 116 Amplified -- CHARA

 CHARA

American: cheerfulness, calm delight, joy

Hebrew Aramaic: shashay

A Christian’s life is adorned by a bright flame of joy burning in the psuche. Through trial and travail this inner graciousness from Theos [Father God] carries one through and provides a continual assurance that one is safe in the loving arms of Theos.

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions.)

1st Thessalonians 1.2: We always eucharistoumen [gratefully give thanks] to Theos concerning you all, continually making mention of you in our proseuchon [humbly begging God, praying], remembering your work of pistis [faith, reliance], draining effort of agape [unconditional love] and the cheerful endurance of our Kurios Jesus, the Christos [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ] before our Theos and Father; knowing your election, brothers, you having been egapemenois [unconditionally loved] by Theos. Our euaggelion [good news, gospel, evangel] came to you not only in logos [word] but also in dunamis [force, power] and in the Hagios [Holy, Sacred, Consecrated] Pneuma [Wind, Breath, Spirit] and in much assurance. You know what kind of men we were, in [among] you via you [for your sakes]. You were caused to be imitators of us and of the Kurios, receiving the logos under much stress with the charas of the Hagios Pneuma so to be caused to be patterns to all those having pistis in Macedonia and Achaia.

1st Thessalonians 2.19: For what is our elpis [expectation, hope] or chara or crown of boasting? Indeed, isn’t it you in front of our Kurios Jesus, the Christos, in His coming? For you are my glory and chara.

2nd Corinthians 7.4: Great is my outspokenness [frankness] toward you; much is my boasting over you. I have been filled with paraklesie [imploration, urging, exhortation, encouragement, consolation]. I super-abound with chara over all our [my] stress.

Romans 14.16: Accordingly, not let the to-you-good foods be vilified, for the kingdom of Theos isn’t eating and drinking; conversely, it is dikaiosune [equity, justification, rightness] and peace and chara in the Hagios Pneuma.

Romans 15.13: Now may the Theos of elpidos make all of you complete with charas and peace in pisteuein (to make you superabound in elpidi) in the dunamei of the Hagios Pneuma.

Colossians 1.9: Via this [From the day we heard], we also don’t pause [stop] proseuchomenoi to Theos over you and asking that you be made replete [complete] in recognition of His thelematos [determination, choice, decision, decree] in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. And that you be made to walk appropriately of the Kuriou, compliant to all in every good work; that you are being fertile and growing into the recognition of Theos in all dunamei, being empowered [enabled] down [according] to the great vigor of His glory to all a cheerful endurance and makrothumian [forbearing, patiently restraining]; that you amidst charas eucharistountes [are gratefully giving thanks] to the Father to qualify us to the portion of the lot of the hagion [holy, consecrated ones; saints] in the Light. He Who rescued us emergent from the authority of shadiness and transferred us into the Kingdom of the Son of His agapes.

Philippians 1.21: For to me to live is the Christos and to die is gain but if I am to live on in the flesh, this will be to me fruitful work and I not know which I should choose for myself. For I am hard pressed emergent from the two choices, having much stronger the longing to depart and to be with the Christo but to remain in the flesh is necessary via [for] you. And being convinced of this, I know that I will stay with all of you for your progress and charan of your pisteos, in order that your boast may superabound in Jesus, the Christo, (Him in me) via my return again to you.

ISAIAH 61.1: “The Ruwach [Pneuma] of the Adonay YHWH is upon Me for YHWH has anointed Me to call out good news to the depressed. He has sent Me to bandage the burst heart; to call out freedom to those transported into captivity and the opening of confinement to the yoked; to call out a year of delight of YHWH and a day of revenge of our Elohiym; [Triune God] to sigh over [comfort] the whole of the mourners, to put [grant] consolation and joy to the mourners of [in] Zion; to give them embellishment instead of the depths of ashes, the oil of sasown instead of the depths of mourning; the vestment of praise instead of the depths of the ruwach [pneuma] of feebleness and all of this such that one calls out to them: ‘Strong of rightness, plants of YHWH,’ to make Him gleam.”

Philippians 2.25: Now, I deemed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditon [“Fair”, “Graceful”], my and your brother, co-worker, co-campaigner , and apostolon [delegate, ambassador, apostle] and servant to my needs, since now he has yearning for you all and is distressed, in as much as you had heard that he had been sick nearly to death. But Theos had compassion on him and not only on him but also upon me, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. Accordingly, I sent him sooner in order that, seeing him again, you may rejoice so I also may be less sorrowful [concerned] about you. Accordingly, receive him in the Kurio with all charas and truly hold this one precious because via the work of the Christou he nearly came so far as death, disregarding his psuche [soul, life, psyche, ego] in order that he fill up the deficiency of your service to me.

Luke 1.8: Now, it was caused to be in the arrangement of his daily serving as a priest, he was in front of [before] Theos down to custom of the priestly function. His lot was to burn incense while entering into the Kuriou [“Holy of Holies” or most sacred room of the Temple]. And all the populace of the people was proseuchomenon outside at the hour of the burning of incense. Now, he gazed wide-eyed at an aggelos [messenger, angel] of the Kuriou who was standing emergent from the right of the altar of incense. And Zekaryahuw [in Hebrew; Zacharias in Greek] was agitated, seeing the angel and fear seized upon him but the aggelos said to him,

“Not fear, Zekaryahuw, since your deesis [petition, request, prayer] was heard and your gune [woman, wife] (Elizabeth) will give birth to a son to you and you shall call the name of the same, John. And he shall be to you chara and exultation and many will rejoice over his birth for he will be megas in the face [eyes] of the Kuriou and he may imbibe neither wine nor hard liquor and he will be filled of the Hagios Pneuma, even as emerging from his mother’s womb. And he will revert many of the sons of Israel onto the Kurion their Theos. And he will precede Him [Jesus] in His face [sight] in the Hagios Pneuma and the dunamei of Elijah to revert the hearts of the fathers upon their children and to revert the insubordinate into the mentality of the dikaion [equitable, just, right]; to prepare for the Kurio a people having been thoroughly prepared.”

MALACHI 4.6: And He shall turn back the hearts of the fathers to the sons and the sons to their fathers.

[Luke continues] And Zekaryahuw said to the aggelos,

“Down to what shall I know this to be true? for I am an old man and my gune is also advanced in her days.”

Beginning to speak, the aggelos said to him,

“I am the angel Gabriel, the one standing by in the face of [before] Theos and I was sent forth to speak to you and to euaggelisasthai [announce good news, evangelize] to you of these events. And LO! you will be mute and unable to speak until the day on which these events are caused to be anti which [because] you not episteusas [had faith] in my logois [words] which same will be fulfilled to their set time.”

Luke 2.8: And in the same territory there were shepherds camping out and keeping guard (in the night) over their flock. And LO! an aggelos of the Kuriou stood before them and the glory of the Kuriou illuminated all around them, making it as light as day. And they feared with megan fear and the aggelos said to them,

“Not fear for LO! I euaggelizouai to you of megalen charan which will be to all the people because on the [this] day was born to you a Soter [Deliverer, Savior] who is the Christos, the Kurios, in the City of David. And this is a semeion [sign, indication] to you. You will find a baby (having been swathed in burial strips) lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there were caused to be with the aggelos a throng of the heavenly army praising Theos and saying,

“Glory in the Highest [Heaven] to Theos and upon the earth, peace in men of His satisfaction.”

And it was caused to be (as the aggelos went off from them into Ouranon) that the men (also the shepherds) said to one another,

“Now, let us traverse up to Bethlehem and let us see this rhema [utterance] having been caused to be, which the Kurios has made known to us.”

Luke 8.9: Now, the mathetai [learners, pupils, disciples] of Him, saying,

“What might be [mean] this parable?”

Now, He said,

“To you it was given to know the musteria [secrets, mysteries] of the Kingdom of Theos but to the rest it was given in parables in order that looking at, they might not see and hearing, they might not comprehend.”

ISAIAH 6.9: And I clearly heard the voice of the Adonay [Kurios: Lord, Master] saying,

“Whom shall I send out and who shall walk for Us?”

Then, I said,

“Here am I, send me out.”

And He said,

“Walk and tell this people: ‘Attentively hear but not understand and seeing, see but not know. Make the heart of this people shiny [oily, gross, fat] and make his eyes stare, lest he see with his eyes and attentively hear with his ears and with his heart understand and turn back to Me and One heals him.’”

[Luke continues] “Now, this is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the Logos of Theos and those near the road are those hearing, then comes the diabolos [leader to shame, devil, satyr] and takes away the Logon from their heart in order that (not pisteusantes [having faith] they may not sothesin [be made safe, saved]. Now, those upon the rock are those who hear the Logon. They receive it amidst charas, and these are those who, not having root, pisteuousi [have faith] forward to [for] a time and in time of testing they withdraw [pull back].

Luke 10.17: Now, the seventy returned amidst charas, saying,

“Kurie! even the daimonion [demonic beings, demons] submitted to us in Your name [authority].”

But He said to them,

“I was a spectator of Satanan descending from the Ouranou in the manner of lightning. LO! I have given to you the privilege [authority] to trample on snakes and scorpions and upon all the dunamin of the echthrou [hateful one] and not even one thing (in no way) shall harm you but not rejoice in this (that the pneumata [winds, breaths, spirits] submit to you) but rather that your names are written in the Ouranois [Heavens].”

Luke 15.3: Now, He spoke toward them a parable, saying,

“What man emergent from you, having a hundred sheep and losing one emergent from them, doesn’t leave down [behind] the ninety-nine in alone and goes toward the lost one until he finds it? And finding it, he puts it on his shoulder rejoicing. And coming to his house, he convenes his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my sheep having been lost!’ I say to you that this chara is in Ourano over one hamartolo [one missing the mark or goal, erring, offending, sinning]; turning to God, more than over the ninety-nine dikaiois [just ones] who haven’t need of metanoias [reversal, repentance, compunction].”

Luke 24.36: Now, after they said these words, Jesus Himself suddenly stood in the middle of them [changed dimensions again?] and says to them,

“Shalom [safety, peace, health, happiness, prosperity, friendship] to you!”

But being caused to be frightened and in fear, they thought they were spectators of a pneuma [spirit, ghost]. And He said to them,

Why are you agitated? and why do imaginations arise in your hearts? See by My hands, and My feet that I AM HE! Touch Me and see because a pneuma hasn’t flesh and bones, just as you are spectators of Me having.”

But while they were still apistounton [without faith], from charas and marveling, He said to them,

“Have you something edible here?”

They handed Him a piece of cooked fish and a piece of honeycomb. And taking these, He ate them before their faces.

Luke 24.50: Now, He led them forth out as far as Bethany [“House of Figs”, a village on the southeastern slope of the Mount of Olives, about two miles east of Jerusalem] and raising up His hands, He eulogesen [fine spoke, commended, blessed] them. And it was caused to be in His eulogein of them, He withdrew from them. And they, proskunesantes [having worshipped, as a dog licks his master’s hand] Him, returned into Jerusalem amidst megales charas and were via all [continually] in the Temple ainountes [praising] and eulogountes Theos. Amen!

Acts 8.4: Accordingly, those being sown traveled throughout, euaggelizomenoi the Logon. Now, Philip [“Lover of Horses”] going down into a town of Samaria, he ekerussen [proclaimed, heralded] the Christon to them. And the ochloi [crowds] unanimously paid attention to that being said via Philip, both in their hearing and in their looking at the semeia which he was doing for many of those were holding impure pneumata. Shouting with a megale phone [sound, tone, noise, voice], they exercheto [issued forth]. Now, many enfeebled [paralyzed] and limping [lame] etherapeuthesan [were relieved] and there was megale chara in that town.

Acts 13.46: ..… “LO! we turn to the ethne for the Kurios commanded us:

‘I have placed you into a luminescence of the ethnon. You are to be working for soterian [rescue, safety, salvation] until [as far as] the ends of the earth.’”

ISAIAH 49.6: He [YHWH] said,

“Is it too light [trifling] that You should be to Me a servant to rouse up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the delivered [preserved] ones of Israel? I will also give You for a light of the gowi [ethnoi] to be My deliverance [salvation] to the end of the earth.”

[Acts continues] Now, hearing this, the ethnon rejoiced and rendered glory to the Logon of the Kuriou and as many as episteusan [had faith] were assigned into eternal life. Now, the Logos of the Kuriou was carried via the whole territory but the Judaeans incited the devout, well-formed [high-ranking] gunaikas and the chiefs of the city and roused persecution upon Paul and Joses Bar Nabas and they ejected the same from their borders. Now, they (vigorously shaking off the dust of their feet as a judgment upon them [the Judaeans]) came into Iconium the capitol of ancient Lycaonia. Now, the mathetai were made full of charas and the Hagios Pneuma.

James 1.2: Count it all charan, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your pisteos [reliance, faith] works hupomone [cheerful endurance]. Now, let hupomone have its perfect [complete] work in order that you may be perfect and complete, having lacked in not even one thing.

Hebrews 10.32: But call to mind the former days in which (having been enlightened), you endured much struggle [soul conflict] of sufferings; this conflict (being exposed both to afflictions and to reproaches) and this issue of being caused to be koinonoi [sharers, partners] of those so living. For in fact, you also suffered together with me in my bonds and accepted the seizure of your possessions with charas, knowing yourselves to have a better and abiding possession in Ouranois [Heavens].

Hebrews 12: So, we having such a cloud of witnesses encircling us, putting [throwing] away [behind] every weight [an Olympics dash racing metaphor] and the easily surrounded hamartian, let us run the race set before us via cheerful endurance, looking to the Author and Finisher of our pisteos -- Jesus. Who against the charas set before Him, endured the stake, despising shame and sat down at the right of Theos’ throne.

Hebrews 13.15: Via Him [Jesus], let us always offer up a sacrifice [offering] of praise to Theos, that is the fruit of the lips confessing to His name. But don’t be forgetful of doing good and sharing for Theos is well-pleased with such sacrifices. Obey those leading you and submit to them for they watch over your psuchon [souls, lives, psyches, egos]; giving an account in order that they may do this with charas and not with groaning for this would be profitless to you.

1st John 1.4: I write these words to you in order that your chara may be complete.

John 3.27: John Bar Zekaryahuw answered,

“A man cannot receive even one thing unless it has been given to him emergent from Ouranou. You (yourselves) are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Christos but have been sent before that One as His forerunner.’ The one having the bride is the bridegroom but the friend of the ‘groom (who stands by listening to the ‘groom) heartily rejoices via His phone. Then, this my chara is now fulfilled. That One must increase in prominence; I must decrease in prominence.”

John 15.7: [Jesus speaking]

If you remain in Me and My rhemata [utterances] remain in you, you will ask whatever you thelete [determine, choose, decide] and it shall be caused to be to you. In this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and that you will be mathetai to Me. Just as the Father egapese Me, I also egapesa you. You remain in My agape if you keep My commands, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His agape. I have spoken these words to you in order that My chara remain in you and that your chara may be totally filled up.
