Lesson 127 Amplified -- MEGA

 MEGA

American: big, large, huge, great

Hebrew Aramaic: rachab

MEGALUNO

American: to make or to declare great

The word “mega” is now in our American vernacular but notice that the appendage “luno” makes it active; to declare or to actually make great.

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Luke 1.8: Now, it was caused to be in the arrangement of his daily serving as a priest, he was in front of [before] Theos down to custom of the priestly function. His lot was to burn incense while entering into the Kuriou [“Holy of Holies” or most sacred room of the Temple]. And all the populace of the people was proseuchomenon [humbly begging God, praying] outside at the hour of the burning of incense. Now, he gazed wide-eyed at an aggelos [messenger, angel] of the Kuriou [Lord, Master] who was standing emergent from the right of the altar of incense. And Zekaryahuw [in Hebrew, Zacharias in Greek, Zachary or Zachariah in American] was agitated, seeing the angel and fear seized upon him but the aggelos said to him,

“Not fear, Zachariah, since your deesis [petition, request, prayer] was heard and your gune [woman, wife], Elizabeth, will give birth to a son to you and you shall call the name of the same, John. And he shall be to you chara [cheerfulness, calm delight, joy] and exultation and many will rejoice over his birth for he will be megas in the face [eyes] of the Kuriou and he may imbibe neither wine nor hard liquor and he will be filled of the Hagios Pneuma, even as emerging from his mother’s womb. And he will revert many of the sons of Israel onto the Kurion their Theos. And he will precede Him [Jesus] in His face [sight] in the Hagios Pneuma and the dunamei [force, power] of Elijah to revert the hearts of the fathers upon their children and to revert the insubordinate into the mentality of the dikaion [equitable, just, right]; to prepare for the Kurio a people having been thoroughly prepared.”

MALACHI 4.6: And He shall turn back the hearts of the fathers to the sons and the sons to their fathers.

Luke 1.26: Now in the sixth month, the aggelos Gabriel was sent forth (by Theos) into a city of Galilee (which is named Nazareth) to a parthenon [maiden, virgin] having been engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, emergent from the house of David. And the name of the maiden was Mariam [in Greek, “Maryam” in Hebrew, “Mary” in American].

And entering to her, the aggelos said,

“Cheers, to you, the one charitoo [receiving graciousness]! The Kurios is amidst you. Eulogemene [Spoken well of, Praised, Blessed] are you in [among] gunaichsin [women]!”   And seeing that she was totally disturbed over his logo [word] and that she was thoroughly analyzing what possible sort of greeting this might be, the aggelos said to her, “Not fear, Mary, for you have found charin [graciousness] from beside Theos and LO! you will conceive in your stomach [womb] and bear a son, and you will call his name Jesus. The same will be megas and will be called the Son of the Highest. And the Kurios Theos will give to Him the throne of His forefather David and He will rule over the house of Jacob to the ages and there won’t be an end to His royalty.”

Luke 1.39: And in these days rising, amidst speed, Mary traveled into the hill country into a city of Judah and entering into the dwelling of Zachariah, hugged Elizabeth. And it was caused to be that as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby jumped for joy in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Hagios Pneuma and she exclaimed with a megale phone [sound, tone, noise, voice] and said, “You eulogemene of gunaichi and eulogemene is the fruit of your womb. And why is this happening to me? in order that the mother of my Kuriou comes to me for LO! as the phone of your greeting came into my ears, the babe (in my womb) jumped inexultation. And makaria [supremely blest] is the one pisteusasa [having faith] because there will be a completion to the words spoken to her from beside the Kuriou.”

1.46 Mary said, “My psuche [soul, life, psyche, ego] megaluno the Kurion and my pneuma [breath, spirit] exults over Theos my Soteri [Deliverer, Savior] because He gazed with favor upon the low estate of His slave. For LO! from now on all the generations me makariouai [will call supremely blest] for the Mighty One magnificently did to me and Hagiou is His name, and His eleos [compassion, pity, mercy] is to generations of generations of those fearing Him.”

PSALM 103.17: The kindness of YHWH is from eternity even so far as eternity on fearers of Him.

Luke 2.8: And in the same territory there were shepherds camping out and keeping guard (in the night) over their flock. And LO! an aggelos of the Kuriou stood before them and the glory of the Kuriou illuminated all around them, making it as light as day. And they feared with megan fear and the aggelos said to them, “Not fear for LO! I euaggelizouai [announce good news] to you of megalen charan [cheerfulness, calm delight, joy] which will be to all the people because on the [this] day was born to you a Soter [Deliverer, Savior] who is the Christos [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ], the Kurios, in the City of David. And this is a semeion [sign, indication] to you. You will find a baby (having been swathed in burial strips) lying in a manger.”And suddenly there were caused to be with the aggelos a throng of the heavenly army praising Theos and saying, “Glory in the Highest [Heaven] to Theos and upon the earth, peace in men of His satisfaction.”

Luke 4.31: And He went down into Capernaum, Galilee and He was teaching them in [on] the sabbaths. And they were amazed over His teaching because His logos was in mastery [authority]. And in the synagogue, there was a man holding an impure pneuma of a demon and it shrieked out with a megale phone, saying,

“Aha! and what is there to us and to You, Jesus? Nazarene! Did You come to fully destroy us? I know You, Who YOU ARE! YOU ARE the Hagios One of Theos!”

And Jesus admonished him, saying,

“Shut up and issue forth emergent from him.”

And flinging him down in their midst, the demon issued forth from him; not in no way hindering [harming] him. And there was caused to be amazement upon all, and they conversed to one another, saying,

“What is this logos that in mastery and dunamei [forces, powers, power works] He orders the impure pneumasi and they come out?”

And a rumor was projected (concerning Him) to every place in the surrounding region.

4.38: And rising up emergent from the synagogue, He entered into the house of Simon [in Greek; “Simeon” in Hebrew: “Hearing”]. The mother-in-law of Simon was besieged with a megalo fever, and they made request (concerning her) of Him. And standing over her, He admonished the fever, and it instantly went forth from her and arising, she served them.

Luke 7.11: And it was caused to be in the next day, that He traveled into a city called Nain [“Pleasantness”], Galilee and an ample number of His mathetai [learners, pupils, disciples] and a great crowd journeyed with Him. Now, as He approached the gate of the city, LO! the onlyborn son of his mother (and she was a widow) having died, his body was being borne forth for burial. And the populace of the city appropriately was with her. And the Kurios had His splen [spleen, guts, bowels, sympathy] yearn over her and said to her,

“Not sob!”

And approaching, He touched the bier. Now, those bearing the bier stood still. And He said,

“Youth! to you I say, eleken [arise]!”

And the formerly dead one sat up and began to speak and He gave him back to his mother. And fear seized all and they glorified Theos, saying,

“A megas Prophetes [before teller, prophet] has risen in us, and Theos has visited His people.”

And this logos (concerning Him) issued forth in the whole of Judea and in the whole surrounding region.

Luke 8.26: And they sailed down into the territory of the Gadarenes which is on the opposite side of the Sea from Galilee. Now, He issuing upon the land, a certain man (emergent from the city) encountered Him, who had had demons for some time, and he not put on clothing and not stayed in a house but stayed in the tombs. Now, seeing Jesus and shrieking out, he prostrated himself before Him and with a megale phone, said,

“What is there between me and You, Jesus, Son of Theos the Highest? I beg You not to torture me!”

For He had commanded the impure pneumati to come forth from the man. For many times it [they] had seized him and he was [had been] shackled with manacles and shackles and was being guarded when tearing apart the bands, he was driven into the wastelands under the power of the demons. Now, Jesus questioned him [the spokes-spook], saying,

“What is your name?”

Now, he said,

“Legion,”

because many demons had entered him and they implored Him in order that He not order them to go off into the abusson [depthless, bottomless, abyss]. Now, there was a considerable herd of swine rooting in the mountain and they [the demons] implored Him in order that He would allow them to enter those swine. Now, issuing emergent from the man, the demons entered the swine and the herd bolted down the precipice into the lake and was drowned. Now, the herdsmen (seeing the event being caused to be) ran away. And going off, they announced these events to the city [Gadara, the capital of the Roman province of Peraea] and to the country. Now, they came forth to see the event (being caused to be) and came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had issued, clothed and of sound mind, sitting down near the feet of Jesus. And they were frightened. Now, those seeing how the man formerly manipulated by demons was esothe [made safe, saved], they apaggeilan [reported] this to them. And the populace all around the region of the Gadarenes requested Him to go away from them because they were gripped with megalo fear. Now, He (embarking into the sailboat) returned to Galilee. Now, the man, from whom the demons had issued, begged to be with Him but Jesus dismissed him, saying,

“Return to your home and tell everything, especially of what Theos did to you.”

And he went off (down the whole of the city) kerusson [proclaiming, heralding] what things Jesus did to him.

Luke 9.46: Now, a discussion entered [arose] in [among] them as to who of them might be the meizon [larger, greater]. Now, Jesus having seen the discussion [reasonings] of their hearts, grabbing a boy-child, He stood him beside Himself and said to them,

“Whoever receives this child over My name, receives Me and whoever receives Me, receives the One having sent out Me. For the mikroteros [lesser] existing in all of you, the same shall be megas.”

Luke 19.35: And they led it toward Jesus. And throwing upon the young ass their outer garments, they caused Jesus to mount it.

II Kings 9.13: They hurried and took off (each man) his outer garment and put them under his bones and blew with the ram’s horn [Shofar] and said [shouted],

“Jehu [in Hebrew & written as “YHWH”, Americanized to “Jehovah”] reigns!

[Luke resumes] Now, Him going, they [others] spread out their outer garments in the road for the ass to walk upon them. And even now (drawing near to the descent of the Mount of Olives), all the crowd of the matheton began rejoicing to praise Theos with megale phone concerning all the dunamen [works of power] they had seen, saying,

“Blest is the King coming in the name [authority] of the Kuriou!”

PSALM 118.26: “Kneel to Him, coming in the name [authority] of YHWH!”

[Luke resumes] “Shalom [safety, peace, health, happiness, prosperity, friendship] in Ourano [Heaven] and glory in the Highest [level of Heaven?]”

And some of the Pharisees (from the crowd) said toward Him,

“Teacher! admonish Your mathetais!” And answering, He said to them, “I tell you that if these are caused to be silent, the stones kekrxontai [ will shriek, will scream, will cry out, will caw as ravens]!”

Luke 24.50: Now, He led them forth out as far as Bethany [“House of Figs”, a village on the southeastern slope of the Mount of Olives, about two miles east of Jerusalem] and raising up His hands, He eulogesen [fine spoke, commended, blessed] them. And it was caused to be in His eulogein of them, He withdrew from them. And they, proskunesantes [having worshipped, as a dog licks his master’s hand] Him, returned into Jerusalem amidst megales charas [joyfulness] and were via all [continually] in the Temple ainountes [praising] and eulogountes [speaking well of, blessing] Theos. Amen!

Acts 4.32: Now, the mass of those pisteusanton [having faith] were of one heart and psuche and not even one (to anything he owned) said these were his own property; conversely, to them all was common property. And with megale dunamei, the apostoloi gave [presented] the evidence [testimony] of the anastaseos [a standing up again, resurrection] of the Kuriou Jesus. And megale charis [graciousness] was upon all of them for neither existed needy in [among] them for as many as were owners of plots of land or homes, having sold them, brought the value [money] paid of [for] those possessions being sold and placed the money at the feet of the apostolon. Now, it was meted out to each as much as what he had any need.

Acts 10.44: While Rock was still speaking these rhemata [utterances], the Hagios Pneuma embraced [grabbed, descended upon] all those hearing the logon. And those pistoi [trustworthy, faithful] of the circumcision, who had come with Rock, marveled because the gratuity of the Hagios Pneuma was poured forth on the ethne [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] for they heard them speaking in glossais [tongues, languages] and megalunonton [declaring mega] Theos. Then Rock began to speak.

“Can anyone block the application of water? that these not baptisthenai [be baptized], who also have received the Hagios Pneuma, just as we have.”

He arranged [instructed] that they also baptisthenai in the name [authority] of the Kuriou. Then they requested him to stay over some days.

Acts 16.16: Now, it was caused to be, as we were going to a place of proseuchen [humbly begging God, praying], a slave girl encountered us [apparently Luke was with them] holding a pneuma of Python [the region about Delphi; seat of the famous oracle] who afforded much profit to her kuriois by divining [soothsaying]. The same closely followed Paul and us and krazo [cawed as a raven, shrieked, screamed, cried out], saying,

“These men are slaves of the Highest Theos, who kataggellousin [promulgate, publish, officially make known] to us the road [way] of soterias [rescue, safety, salvation].”

Now, she did this upon many days, but Paul was being (caused to be) irritated and turning to the pneumati [spirits], said,

“I command you in the name of Jesus, the Christou, to come forth from her.”

And it came forth at that same hour [very time].

16.19: Now, her kurioi, seeing that their elpis [expectation, hope] of profit had come out of her, seized Paul and Silas, and dragged them toward the rulers into the town square. And having led them toward the magistrates, they said,

“These men are wholly disturbing to our city and having been born Jews, they kataggellousin [promulgate, officially make known] customs which aren’t proper for us to accept nor to do, being Romans.”

And the crowd stood together with them, down on them [Paul and Silas]. And the magistrates, tearing their clothes off them, ordered the lictors to flog them (Paul and Silas) with rods. They were both imposing many strokes on them and throwing them into a place of confinement, charging the jailer securely to guard them, who accepting this sort of charge, threw them into the interior keep [cell] and rendered their feet secure into timber [stocks]. Now down to midnight, Paul and Silas proseuchomenoi and humnoun [hymned, sang praises] to Theos. Now, the other prisoners intently listened to them. Now, there unexpectedly was caused to be a megas earthquake such that the foundations of the place were broken open. Also, all the doors and all the shackles instantly were loosened. Now, the jailer being caused to be awake and seeing the doors of the keep having been opened (having drawn his knife), was about to do away with himself; supposing the prisoners to have escaped. But Paul called out with a megale phone, saying,

“Do not even one kakon [worthless] act to yourself for we are all within.”

Now, asking for a light, he rushed in and being caused to be terrified, he prostrated himself before Paul and Silas. And having led them outside, he said,

“Kurioi! what is it necessary for me to do in order that I may be sotho [be made safe, be saved]?”

Now, they said,

“Pisteuson [have reliance, have faith] upon the Kurion, Jesus, the Christon, and you will be sothese; you and your household.”

And they spoke to him and to all those in his house, the Logon of the Kuriou. And taking them in that very hour of the night, he washed their stripes and was immediately ebaptisthe; he and all those of his household. Leading them up to his house, he both presented them a table of food and exulted with his whole household, pepisteukos [having put all their faith] in Theos.

Hebrews 1: In many times and in many ways of old [long ago], Theos spoke to the forefathers via prophetai. In these last days, He spoke to us in the Son Whom He appointed heir of all, in fact via Whom He made the ages [eternity]. Who [Jesus] being the radiance of the glory and the charakter [express human image] of Him and upholding all by the dunamis of His rhemai [utterances], having made katharismos [purging] of our hamarton [misses of the mark or goal; errors, offenses, sins] via Himself [Jesus], He sat down at the right of the Megalesunes [Majesty] on high. By being (caused to be) so much better than the aggelon, He has inherited a name more excellent than them for to which of the aggelon has the Father said,

“YOU ARE My Son. Today I gegeneka [have created, have given birth to] You.”

PSALM 2.7: “I will declare of the statute of YHWH: He said to Me, ‘YOU ARE My Son. Today I have yalad [given birth to] You.’”

[Paul continues] And again, “I will be to and for Him a Father. He shall be to and for Me a Son.”

2nd SAMUEL 7.14: [YHWH speaking] “I shall be to and for Him a Father, and He shall be to and for Me a Son.”

[Paul continues] And again (when He brings the First-born into the oikoumenen [habitable land]), He says, “Let all the aggeloi of Theos proskunsatosan [worship, as a dog licks his master’s hand] Him.” And as to the aggeloi, He says, “… Who making His aggelous pneumata [winds, breaths, spirits] and His servants a flame of fire.”

PSALM 104.4: [YHWH] “He makes His malak [aggeloi] ruwach [pneumai]; His servants a flame of fire.”

[Paul again] But as to the Son, He says, “Your throne, O Theos! is to the ages of the ages [forever]. The rod [scepter] of Your rectitude is the rod of Your Kingdom. You egapesas [unconditionally loved] dikaiosunen [equity, justification, rightness] and detested lawlessness; therefore, Theos (Your Theos) anointed You with oil of gladness above Your fellows. At the beginning, You (Kurie!) founded the earth and the ouranoi are the works of Your hands. They will perish but You will remain. All creation shall be caused to be old (as a garment) and You shall roll them up (as a covering) and they shall be changed but YOU ARE the same and Your years shan’t fail.”

PSALM 45.6: [YHWH] “Your throne (O Elohiym!) is forever. A scepter of rectitude is the scepter of Your Kingdom. You aheb [phile: love] right and sane [hate] the wrong therefore Elohiym (Your Elohiym) has anointed You with oil of gladness more than Your fellows; myrrh, aloes, and cassia upon all Your garments.”

PSALM 102.25: [YHWH] “Of old You founded the earth. The shamayim [ouranoi] are the work of Your hands. They perish but You shall stand. Yes, they all shall grow old (as a garment). You shall change them (as clothing) and they shall be changed but YOU ARE HE and Your years shan’t be ended.”
