Lesson 74 Amplified -- EPAGGELIA

 EPAGGELIA

American: announcement, proclamation, promise

This word has theological meaning, usually indicative of an emission by the Holy Spirit.

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions)

Galatians 3.13: The Christos [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ] redeemed us emergent from the curse of The Law [Pentateuch, 1st five books of Old Testament, Books of Moses] having been caused to be a curse for us. For it has been written, “Cursed are all who have been hanged on timber.”

DEUTERONOMY 21.23: “…for he that is hanged on timber is to Elohiym [Theoi, the Trinity] accursed;”

[Galatians continues] This has happened in order that the eulogia [fine speaking, commendation, blessing, eulogy] of Abraham to the ethne [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] might be caused to come into being in Jesus, the Christo, in order that we might receive the epaggelian of the Hagios Pneuma via pistis [faith].

Acts 1: The first account I [Luke] made, O Theophilus [“Lover of God”], concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to teach until the day that He was taken up, having commanded the apostolois [delegates, ambassadors, apostles] whom He had selected via the Hagios Pneuma. He also showed Himself to these living, after His suffering, in many proofs via forty days, being wide-eyed stared at by them, and speaking of the issues concerning the Kingdom of Theos. Meeting amidst them, He communicated to them not to put space between themselves off Jerusalem, rather to stay around [await] the epaggelian of the Father, “Which,” He said, “You heard of [from] Me because John Bar Zekaryahuw (in fact) ebaptisen [immersed, submerged, baptized] in water but you baptisthesesthe [will be baptized] in the Hagios Pneuma not after many of these days [not many days from now].”

Ephesians 1.3: Eulogetos [Fine spoken of, Commended, Blest, Praised] be the Theos and Father of our Kuriou Jesus (the Christou), Who blest us with all spiritual eulogesas above the sky [in Heaven], in Jesus (the Christo), as He selected us before the founding of the kosmou [universe, world, cosmos] to be hagious [holy, sacred, consecrated] and unblemished before Him. He was predestining us (in agape) to adoption via Jesus (the Christou), to Himself down [according] to His good pleasure and thelematos [determination, choice, decision, decree], to the praise of His glory and charitos [graciousness] with which He favored us in the Egapemeno [Beloved] in Whom we have redemption via Jesus’ blood; aphesin [forgiveness] of paraptomaton [side slips, lapses, deviations] down to the riches of the Father’s charitos. Which graciousness He caused to abound to us in all wisdom and intelligence, making known to us the musterion [secrets, mysteries] of His thelematos down to His good pleasure, which Father proposed (in Himself) for administration of the fullness of times, to head up all the ouranois [heavens] and the earth in the Christo. In Him [Jesus], we have been selected to be an inheritance, being predestined down to the purpose of the Father, all working down to His boulen [will, resolve, intention]; His thelematos for us to be His praise and glory, those having previously trusted in the Christo. In Him [Jesus], you were also hearing the logon [word] of truth, the euaggelion [good news, gospel, evangel] of your soterias [rescue, safety; salvation] and in Whom you pisteusantes [were also having reliance or faith]. You were sealed up with the epaggelias Hagios Pneuma, Who is the earnest [down payment, deposit] of our inheritance until the redemption of the possession to Jesus’ praise and glory.

2nd Peter 1.2: His godly dunameos [force, power] has bestowed upon us all, pertaining to life and godliness, via the full knowledge of the One calling us via His glory and manliness, via which He has bestowed the greatest and most precious epaggelmata to us in order that via these you might be caused to be koinonoi [sharers, partners] of the godly nature, escaping the decay (in lust) in the kosmo [universe, world, cosmos]. Now, for this very reason, also simultaneously introduce all spouden [speed, alacrity eagerness] in your pistei [faith]. Fully supply manliness and in your manliness, knowledge and in your knowledge self-control and in your self-control, cheerful endurance and in your cheerful endurance, godliness and in your godliness, philadelphian [brotherly love] and in your philadelphia, agapen [unconditional love].

1st John: I haven’t written to you because you don’t know the truth but because you do know it and because all pseudos [falsehoods, lies] aren’t emergent from the truth. [No lies are emergent from the truth.] Who is the liar if not the one avowing that Jesus isn’t the Christos? This is the antichristos, the one disavowing the Father and the Son. All disavowing the Son haven’t the Father either; the one acknowledging the Son also has the Father. Accordingly, let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you will abide both in the Son and in the Father. And [Now] this is the epaggelia which He epeggeilato to us, ETERNAL LIFE!

Lesson 72 Amplified -- BLASPHEMEO

 BLASPHEMEO

American: speak irreverently or profanely, blaspheme

Hebrew Aramaic: naats

BLASPHEMIA

American: defamation, slander, vilification, blasphemy

Hebrew Aramaic: neatsah

This is a very strong word, used by Christians; also by those without faith. Webster’s Dictionary of the American Language defines blaspheme as “to speak irreverently or profanely; to curse or revile”. The same reference defines blasphemy as “profane or mocking speech, writing or action concerning God or anything regarded as sacred; contempt for God”.

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions)

1st Corinthians 4.9: For I think that Theos sent us out (the apostolous [delegates, ambassadors, apostles]) last (as doomed to death) because we were caused to be a theatron [spectacle, theater] to the kosmo [world, universe, cosmos], to aggeloi [messengers, angels] and to men. We are fools via the Christon [Anointed One, Mashiyach, Messiah, Christ] but you are wise in the Christo. We are weak but you are strong. You are considered endoxoi [splendid] but we are atimoi [dishonored]. To the present hour, I both hunger and thirst, am poorly clad, am hit with the fist, wander, and labor, working with my own hands. Pursued [persecuted], I endure. Blasphemeo, I parakaloumen [call near, invite, urge, exhort, encourage]. I have been caused to be scum of the kosmou; the dregs of all until now. I write these words not putting you down; conversely, as cautioning my agapeta [unconditionally beloved] children. For if you have myriad custodians in the Christo, yet you have not many fathers. For in Jesus, the Christo, I begot you via the euaggelion [good news, gospel, evangel] I urge you then, be caused to be imitators of me. Via this I sent Timothy [“Honoring God”] to you (who is an agapeton child of mine and piston [trustworthy, faithful] to the Kurio), who will remind you of my ways in the Christo as I teach everywhere in every ekklesia [assembly, church].

Luke 12.8: [Jesus speaking] Now, I say to you, all (whoever) covenant in Me before men, also the son of Man will covenant in them before the aggelon of Theos. But the one rejecting Me before the face of men, will be utterly rejected before the face of the aggelon of Theos. And everyone who speaks a logon into [against] the Son of Man, it aphethesetai [will be sent forth, will be forsaken, will be forgiven] him but those blasphemesanti [speaking irreverently, profanely; blaspheming] into the Hagios Pneuma, not aphethesetai. Now, whenever they bring you towards [before] the synagogues and the chiefs and the authorities, not be anxious how or what you may plead or what you may say for the Hagios Pneuma will teach you (in the same hour) what you must say.”

Mark 3.28: [Jesus speaking] Amen! I say to you that all the hamarotemata [misses of the mark or goal, errors, offenses, sins] of the sons of men aphiemi [will be sent forth, will be forsaken, will be forgiven] and whatever much blasphemiai they have blasphemesosin but whoever blasphemmese into the Hagios Pneuma, he hasn’t pardon to the age; conversely, he is liable to a perpetual kriseos [judgment].”

2nd Peter 2: But there were also pseudoprophetai [false prophets] in [among] the people, as also in you will be pseudodidaskaloi [false teachers], who will introduce destructive haireseis [factionalism, dissenting belief, heresy], also contradicting the Despoten [Ruler, Master, Despot] having redeemed them, further inflicting themselves with abrupt destruction. Many will follow out their ruin via whom the roadway of the truth blasphemethesetai [will be defamed, will be slandered, will be vilified, will be blasphemed]. In avarice they will peddle to you well-formed logois [words] for whom the long-standing krima [judgment] not dawdles, and their ruin not nods off.

2nd Peter 2.9: The Kurios knows how to rescue the well-reverent emergent from the testing but the unjust are being curtailed [contained] to a day of kriseos [decision, judgment rendered, verdict] but especially those traveling backwards in fleshly lusting and disgusting leadership [authority]. These are brazen darers, self-pleasing, not trembling when blasphemountes the glorious, where aggeloi [messengers, angels] (being greater in strength and dunamei [force, power]) not bring down on them a blasphemon [abusive] krisin [judgment] in proximity of [before] the Kurio. But these are like irrational, physical-living animals having been procreated to capture and to slaughter. Blasphemountes where they have no knowledge, they shall be totally destroyed in their ruin; taken care of for injustice by suitable wages.

Matthew 12.30: [Jesus speaking] He not being amidst [with] Me, is down to [against] Me and He not gathering amidst Me, dissipates. Via this I say to you, all hamartia and blasphemia aphethesetai [shall be sent forth, shall be forsaken, shall be forgiven] men but the blasphemia of the Hagios Pneuma won’t be aphethesetai men. And whoever speaks a logou down [against] the Son of Man, it will be aphethesetai him but whoever speaks down to the Hagios Pneuma, it won’t be aphethesetai him neither in this age nor in the coming age.

Jude 5: Now, I quietly intend to remind you (you once having known these facts) that the Kurios initially sosas [having made safe, having saved] a people emergent from the land of Egypt. Then He thoroughly destroyed those not pisteusantas [having faith]. Also, some of the aggelous [messengers, angels], (those not having guarded their Chief, conversely, having left behind their own residence), He has guarded under gloom in eternal shackles to the megales [big, large, huge, great] Day of Judgment. This is even as Sodom and Gomorrah [“Subversion”] and the towns around them (a style like these utterly unchaste and going off after different flesh) lie in view as an example, undergoing eternal diken [right, justice] by fire. Similarly (however), also these dreamers [fantasizers] in fact sully the flesh, reject authority and blasphemousin glorious Ones. But even Michael the archaggelos [chief messenger, chief angel] (when diakrinomenos [thoroughly separating from, withdrawing from] the diabolo [leader to shame, devil, satyr], in dielegeto [thoroughly discussing, arguing] concerning the somatos [body] of Moses), not was bold to lay upon him blasphemias krisin [decision, judgment rendered, verdict] but said, “The Kurios admonish you!” But these fantasizers blasphemousin as much as they not properly know. But what they speak as irrational living beings, in these ideas they are physically shriveled. Woe to them!

Lesson 73 Amplified -- INTERPRET

DIERMENEUO

American: thoroughly explain, interpret

HERMENEUO

American: translate, interpret

When discussing “speaking in tongues”, Paul entreats those be present who have the gift of interpreting what is spoken in the “unknown” tongue, in order that all those present will benefit from the message given through the Holy Spirit.

Almost Greek: [Words in italics are translator’s additions]

1st Corinthians 12.28: And (in fact) whom did Theos place in the ekklesia [assembly, church]? Firstly apostolous [delegates, ambassadors, apostles], secondly prophetas [before tellers, prophets], thirdly teachers, then works of dunameis [force, power], then charismata [gifts, endowments, faculties, deliverances] of healing, relief [help], pilotage [leadership], kin [families] of glossai [tongues, languages]. Not all are apostoloi. Not all are prophetai. Not all are teachers. Not all are dunameis workers. Not all have charismata of healing. Not all speak glossai! Not all diermineuousi. But crave the stronger charismata! Yet I show you a way down to super eminence.

1st Corinthians 14: Pursue agapen! Crave the spiritual and even more in order that you may propheteuete [before tell, prophesy]. For he, speaking in a glosse [tongue, language], not speaks to men; conversely, to Theos. For no man spiritually hears but he speaks musterion [secrets, mysteries]. But the one propheteuon speaks to men for building up, paraklesin [imploration, urging, exhortation, encouragement, solace] and consolation. The one speaking in a glosse builds up himself but the one propheteuon builds up an ekklesian. I desire that all of you speak in glossais but even more, that you may propheteuete. For the one propheteuon is greater than him speaking in glossais (unless he thoroughly diermeneue [interprets] his utterance) in order that the ekklesia may receive upbuilding. But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in glossais, how will I be opheleso [useful] to you, except I speak to you either in revelation or in knowledge or in propheteia or in teaching? Now, apsuchos [lifeless, dead, inanimate] instruments giving phone [sound, tone, voice, noise] (whether pipe or lyre), if they don’t give a variety of utterance, how will the tune being piped, or the music being strummed be known? For if a bugle gives an indistinct phone, who will ready himself for battle? So also, if you give (via glosses) not-clear logos [word], how will the word being said be known for you will be speaking into air. So many effective kinds of phonon are in the kosmo [world, universe, cosmos] and not even one is aphonos [voiceless, mute]. If then, I not know the dunamin of the phones, I will be a barbaros [foreigner, non-Greek, barbarian] to the one speaking and he speaking will be a barbaros to me. So also, you, since you are zelotai [zealous ones, zealots] of the spiritual to the upbuilding of the ekklesias, seek interpretation in order that you may superabound. Therefore, let him, speaking in a glosse, proseuchestho [humbly beg God, pray] in order that he may be able to dierueneue. For if I proseuchomai in a glosse, my pneumatic [breath, spirit] proseuchomai [prays] but my nous [intellect, mind, understanding] is empty. Then, what is to be? I will proseuchomai with the [my] pneumati and I will also proseuchomai with the [my] nous. I sing with the [my] pneumati and I also sing with the [my] nous. If you eulogeses [speak well of, praise, bless] in the pneumati, how will the one occupying the position of the idiotes [know-nothing, ignoramus] say the “Amen” to your eucharistia [gratefully giving thanks], since he not knows what you say? Indeed, you echaristeis well but the other isn’t built up. I echaristo [give thanks] to my Theos for I speak in glossais more than all of you. Conversely, in an ekklesia, I determine rather to speak five logoi with my nous in order that I may also instruct others than murioi [10,000; innumerable, myriads] of logoi in glosse.

1st Corinthians 14.26: Brothers! what indeed is it when you convene? Each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a glossan, has a revelation, has an apokalupsin [disclosure], has an hermeneian [translation, interpretation]; let the whole service be for upbuilding. If anyone speaks in a glosse, keep it down to one or two or at most three and in turn [alternately] let someone diermeneueto but if there isn’t a diermeneutes [interpreter], keep glossai silent in the ekklesia. Let him [each man] speak to himself and to Theos. Let two or three prophetai speak and the others diermeneuo and if a revelation comes to another sitting down, let the first be silent. For you can all propheteuein (down one by one) so all may learn, and all may be parakalontai [called near, invited, urged, exhorted, encouraged]. And the pneumata of propheton are obedient to prophetais for Theos isn’t a God of instability; conversely, a God of peace. And so be it (in that manner) in all the ekklesiais of the hagion [holy ones, sacred ones, consecrated ones, saints].

Hebrews 7: For this Melchizadek, King of Shalom [“Salem” is the transliteration from Hebrew Aramaic to English by King James’ translators; it means safety, peace, health, happiness, prosperity, friendship], Priest of the Most High Theos, is the One meeting Abraham on his returning from the slaughter of the kings and eulogesas him; to Whom indeed Abraham divided a tenth from everything; firstly, being hermeneumenos [translated, interpreted] King of Dikaiosunes; then also King of Shalom, which is King of Eirene [peace]. Historically He is without father, without mother, without genealogetos [genealogy] nor beginning of days nor having end of life but having been made as the Son of Theos, remains a Priest in perpetuity.

Lesson 71 Amplified -- APOSTASIA - HAIRESIS

 APOSTASIA

American: defection from the truth, apostasy

HAIRESIS

American: factionalism, dissenting belief, heresy

Both these Koine Greek words are involved with untruth. Webster’s Dictionary of the American Language defines apostasy as, “an abandoning of what one believed in”. The same reference defines heresy as, “a religious belief opposed to the orthodox doctrines of a church”.

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions)

Galatians 5.16: Now, I say, walk in the Hagios Pneuma and you won’t at all fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh longs for putting down the Hagios Pneuma but the Hagios Pneuma longs to put down the flesh. But these are opposite to one another in order that you not do whatever is your natural inclination. Now, if you are led by the Hagios Pneuma, you aren’t under The Law [Pentateuch, 1st 5 books of the Old Testament, Books of Moses]. Now, the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: porneia [whoring, incest, non-marital sexual intercourse], impurity, licentiousness, idol-worship, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, hatred, thumos [passion, anger, indignation], intrigue, disunion, haireseis, corruption, phonoi [murders], intoxication, carousal, and similar things. I tell you now (what I previously told you), that those practicing such things won’t inherit the Kingdom of Theos.

1st Corinthians 11.17: But transmitting this, I not praise you for you not assemble for the better; conversely, for the worse. For (in fact) firstly I hear that there are schismata [splits, divisions, schisms] in you assembling in the ekklesia [assembly, church] and in part, I believe some of it. For there are [must be] haireseis also in you in order that the acceptable [approved] ones in you may be caused to be shining [stand out].

2nd Peter 2: But there were also pseudoprophetai [false prophets] in the people, as also in you will be pseudodidaskaloi [false teachers], who will introduce destructive haireseis, also contradicting the Despoten [Ruler, Master, Despot] having redeemed them, further inflicting themselves with abrupt destruction.

2nd Thessalonians 2: Brothers! we ask you over the coming of our Kurios Jesus, the Christos, and our gathering together to Him, not to waver in the nous [intellect, mind, understanding]; not to be frightened neither via pneuma [wind, breath, spirit] nor via logos [word] nor via letter (as if from me) as if the Day of the Christos is come. Let not even one person deceive you not (in no way) because unless the apostasia comes first and the man of hamartia [misses of the mark or goal, error, offense, sin] is revealed (the son of destruction, he who is opposite to Theos and is exalting himself over everything relating to Theos or object of worship), to sit down in the Temple of Theos, as if Theos (showing that he himself is a theos), the Day of the Christos hasn’t come.

Acts 21.17: Now, we being caused to be in Jerusalem, the brothers gladly received us. Now the following day, Paul went in with us, both to James Bar Joseph and all the elders present. And having hugged the same, he related down in each [one by one] of what Theos did in the ethnesi [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] via his service. Now hearing, they praised the Kurion and said to the same, “You see, brother, how many muriades [innumerable, myriads] there are of Jews episteukoton [having had faith] and they are all zealotai [zealots] of The Law. Now, they were katechethesan [indoctrinated, catechized] about you, that you teach apostasian to all the Jews down [throughout] the ethne, to depart from Moses’ teaching; telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk in the Jewish customs. What then is to be done? It is specifically necessary that a crowd be convened for they will hear that you have come. Then do this; what we tell you. There are four men of us, having themselves under a vow. Join with these men and be ceremonially purified with the same and you pay the expenses upon the same in order that they may shave the head [Paul’s and the other four] and may know that all of which they have katechechetai with concerning you isn’t even one word of truth; conversely, that you also march in step, yourself keeping The Law. Now, concerning the ethnon pepisteukoton [who are in the faith] we commanded them in writing, krinantes [distinguishing, judging, instructing] the same to observe no such customs, if not [except] to guard [keep] themselves from both: Number One, idol-sacrifice and blood and meat from strangled animals and Number Two, porneia [ whoring, incest, non-marital sexual intercourse].

Lesson 70 Amplified -- ATHANASIA

 ATHANASIAN

American: deathlessness, immortality

This is the goal of all who put their faith into Jesus the Christos [Anointed One, Mashiyach, Messiah, Christ] as their only door to everlasting life.

Almost Greek: (Words in italics are translator’s additions)

1st Corinthians 15.50: I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood isn’t able to inherit the Kingdom of Theos nor is decay able to inherit imperishability. LO! I tell you a musterion [mystery, secret]. Indeed, we shan’t all be put to sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment (in a jerk of the eye) in the final reverberation. For it will trumpet and the dead will be awakened imperishable, and we shall be changed for this decaying body must be clothed with imperishability and this mortal body must be clothed with athanasian. When this decayed shall be clothed with imperishability and this mortal be clothed with athanasian, then will occur the logos written, “Death was swallowed into victory. Where is your sting, O Death? Where, O Haides [Unseen, subterranean world of the dead, Hades], is your victory?”

HOSEA 13.14: [YHWH speaking] “From Sheol’s hand I will ransom them. From Death, I will redeem them. Where are your plagues, O Death? Where are your exterminations, O Sheol [Haides]?

Lesson 69 Amplified – ABUSSOS

ABUSSOS

American: depthless, bottomless, abyss

In Amplified Lesson 66 we studied Gehenna and Haides the abodes of the damned. The abussos is another place in the netherworld. This place is most feared by the demons.

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Romans 10.6: But the dikaiosune [equity, justification, rightness] emergent from pisteos [reliance upon, faith] says thus, “Not say in your heart, ‘Who will go up to Ouranon [Heaven]?’ that is to lead down the Christon [Anointed One, Mashiyach, Messiah, Christ] or ‘Who will descend to the abussos?’ that is to lead up the Christon from among the dead.”

DEUTERONOMY 30.11: [Moses speaking] “For this command (which I command you today) is not too pala [difficult] for you and it isn’t too remote [far off]. It isn’t in the Shamayin [Ouranos] such that you should say, ‘Who shall ascend to the Shamayin and get it for us and cause us intelligently to listen to it in order that we may do it?' And it isn’t beyond the Mediterranean Sea such that you should say, ‘Who will go around to the region beyond the Sea and take it for us intelligently to listen in order that we may do it?’ For the dabar [logos] is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart in order that you may do it.”

Romans continues: But what says it? “The rhema [utterance] is near you (in your mouth and in your heart).” That is the rhema of pisteos (which we kerussomen [proclaim, herald]), that if you acknowledge [covenant] in your mouth the Kurion Jesus and pisteuses [have faith] in your heart that Theos awakened Him emergent from dead, you sothese [will be safe; will be saved]. For with the heart one pisteuetai [holds faith] toward dikaiosunen and with the mouth one acknowledges toward soterian. For the Graphe [Scripture, part of Old Testament] says, “Everyone pisteuon [having reliance, having faith] upon Him won’t be shamed down,” for there isn’t a distinction for the same Kurios of all of mankind (both of Jew and of Greek) is wealth to all those appealing to Him for, “Everyone (whoever invokes the name [authority] of the Kuriou [Lord, Master]) sothesetai [will be safe; will be saved].”

JOEL 2.32: [YHWH speaking] “For it will be that all, who call out to the name of YHWH, mala [will be smooth, will be slippery, will escape, will be saved] for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance,” as YHWH has said, “and there is a survivor to whom YHWH shall call out.”

Luke 8.26: And they sailed down into the territory of the Gaderenes which is on the opposite side of the Sea from Galilee. Now, He issuing upon the land, a certain man (emergent from the city) encountered Him, who had had demons for some time, and he not put on clothing and not stayed in a house but stayed in the tombs. Now, seeing Jesus and shrieking out, he prostrated himself before Him and with a megale phone [sound, tone, noise, voice] said, “What is there between me and You, Jesus, Son of Theos the Highest? I beg You not to torture me!” For He had commanded the impure pneumati [winds, breaths, spirits] to come forth from the man. For many times it [they] had seized him and he was [had been] shackled with manacles and shackles and was being guarded when tearing apart the bands, he was driven into the wastelands under the power of the demons. Now, Jesus questioned him [the spokes-spook], saying, “What is your name?” Now, he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him, and they implored Him in order that He not order them to go off into the abusson.

Revelation 9: And the fifth aggelos trumpeted and I saw a star (emergent from ouranos) having fallen to the earth. And the same [aggelos] was given the key to the pit of the abussos and he opened the pit of the abussos and a smoke went up (emergent from the pit) like the smoke of a megales furnace. And the sun and the aer [air] was obscured [darkened, blackened] and emergent from [due to] the smoke of the pit.

Luke continues: Now, there was a considerable herd of swine rooting in the mountain and they [the demons] implored Him in order that He would allow them to enter those swine. Now, issuing emergent from the man, the demons entered the swine and the herd bolted down the precipice into the lake and was drowned. Now, the herdsmen (seeing the event being caused to be) ran away. And going off, they announced these events to the city [Gadara, the capital of the Roman province of Peraea] and to the country. Now, they came forth to see the event (being caused to be) and came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had issued (clothed and of sound mind) sitting down near the feet of Jesus. And they were frightened. Now, those seeing how the man formerly manipulated by demons was esothe [made safe, saved], they apaggeilan [reported] this to them. And the populace all around the region of the Gadarenes requested Him to go away from them because they were gripped with megalo fear.

For if Theos not spared hamarton [missing the mark or goal; erring, offending, sinning] aggelon but surrendered them to chains, thrust down into gloomiest Tartaros [the deepest part of the abussos] into reserved judgment and if Theos not spared the primeval kosmou but preserved the eight of Noah, a keruka [proclaimer, herald] of dikaiosunes, while further afflicting the irreverent kosmo [universe, world, cosmos] with kataklusmon [an inundation] and if Theos katekrinen [decided against, passed judgment against, declared a verdict against] the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah [“Submersion”] to katastrophe [overturning, demolition] by reduction to ashes, placing [setting] an exhibit to those intending to act irreverently and yet He rescued dikaion Lot, he having been worn down under the in-licentiousness behavior of The Lawless.

Revelation 20: And I saw an aggelon coming down (emergent from Ouranou) having the keys of the abussou and a megalen chain upon his hand. And he seized the dragon (the primeval snake, who is the diabolos [leader to shame, devil, satyr] and Satanas [Satan, Accuser]) and he bound him for a thousand years and threw him into the abusson and closed him up and signet-sealed up above him. This is done in order that he shouldn't cause the ethne [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] to stray until the thousand years are ended. And after these things [thousand years] it is necessary that he be loosed for a mikron space of time.

Lesson 68 Amplified – APOSTOLOS

 APOSTOLOS -- APOSTOLOI

American singular: delegate, ambassador, apostle

plural: delegates, ambassadors, apostles

Originally Jesus chose twelve men to be His apostoloi. Judas the Greater [the older], Son of Simon the Iscariot [Keriothite; i.e. from Kerioth] surrendered/betrayed Jesus to the leaders of the Judaeans. The apostoloi chose (by casting a lot) Mathias to replace Judas the betrayer but after his being chosen, he is never again mentioned in the New Blood Covenant. Paul [nee Saul] of Tarsus, Cilicia, writes that he is the twelfth apostolos.

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Luke 6.12: Now it was caused to be (in those days) that He went forth into the Mount of Olives proseuchomai [to humbly beg of God, to pray]. And He was staying up the whole of the night in proseuche of Theos. And when it was caused to be day, He called to His mathetai and He selected from them two and ten [twelve] whom He also named apostoloi.

Galatians 1.11: Now, I make known to you, brothers, the euaggelion euaggelisthen under me that it is not down [according] to man. For I not received it from man nor was I taught by man; conversely, via a revelation of Jesus, the Christou [Anointed One, Mashiyach, Messiah, Christ]. For you heard of my way of life (when in Judaism), that with surpassing zeal I persecuted the ekklesia [assembly, church] of Theos; ravaged it and progressed in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my race [Jews], being more superabundantly a zealot of my ancestral traditions. Now, at the time, it pleased Theos (He separating me emergent from my mother’s belly and calling me via His charitos [graciousness]) to reveal His Son (in me) in order that I might euaggelizoeai Him in [among] the ethnoi [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles]. I not conferred with flesh and blood nor did I go up to Jerusalem to the chosen-before-me apostoloi; conversely, I went immediately away into Arabia [east of Damascus, Syria; now Iraq] and later returned (again) to Damascus.                                                                    Then, after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to learn from Rock [some texts use “Cephas,” which is Latin for “Rock”; Jesus renamed him “Kaf”, which is Chaldee for “Rock”; in Greek “Rock” is “Petros”; an American transliteration of “Petros” is “Peter”] and remained by his side for fifteen days. But I not saw any of the others of the apostoloi except James Bar Joseph, the half-brother of the Kuriou.

1st Corinthians 4.9: For I think that Theos sent us out (the apostoloi) last (as doomed to death) because we were caused to be a theatron [spectacle, theater] to the kosmos, to angeloi and to men.

1st Corinthians 12.28: And (in fact) whom did Theos place in the ekklesia? Firstly apostolous, secondly prophetas [before tellers, prophets], thirdly teachers, then works of dunameis [force, power], then charismata [gifts, endowments, faculties, deliverances] of healing, relief [help], pilotage [leadership], kin [families] of glossai.

Acts 5.17: Now standing up, the high priest and all those with him (this being the party [sect] of the Sadducees) were filled of zelos [heat: zeal, ardor; jealousy, envy, malice] and throwing their hands upon the apostoloi, they also publicly put them in custody. But via night, an angelos of the Kurios opened the door of the keep [jail] and leading them forth, said, “Go! and standing in the Temple, speak [preach] to the people all the rhemai [utterances] of this Life.” Now having heard [heeding], they entered into the Temple (at dawn) and taught.
