Lesson 69 Amplified – ABUSSOS

ABUSSOS

American: depthless, bottomless, abyss

In Amplified Lesson 66 we studied Gehenna and Haides the abodes of the damned. The abussos is another place in the netherworld. This place is most feared by the demons.

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Romans 10.6: But the dikaiosune [equity, justification, rightness] emergent from pisteos [reliance upon, faith] says thus, “Not say in your heart, ‘Who will go up to Ouranon [Heaven]?’ that is to lead down the Christon [Anointed One, Mashiyach, Messiah, Christ] or ‘Who will descend to the abussos?’ that is to lead up the Christon from among the dead.”

DEUTERONOMY 30.11: [Moses speaking] “For this command (which I command you today) is not too pala [difficult] for you and it isn’t too remote [far off]. It isn’t in the Shamayin [Ouranos] such that you should say, ‘Who shall ascend to the Shamayin and get it for us and cause us intelligently to listen to it in order that we may do it?' And it isn’t beyond the Mediterranean Sea such that you should say, ‘Who will go around to the region beyond the Sea and take it for us intelligently to listen in order that we may do it?’ For the dabar [logos] is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart in order that you may do it.”

Romans continues: But what says it? “The rhema [utterance] is near you (in your mouth and in your heart).” That is the rhema of pisteos (which we kerussomen [proclaim, herald]), that if you acknowledge [covenant] in your mouth the Kurion Jesus and pisteuses [have faith] in your heart that Theos awakened Him emergent from dead, you sothese [will be safe; will be saved]. For with the heart one pisteuetai [holds faith] toward dikaiosunen and with the mouth one acknowledges toward soterian. For the Graphe [Scripture, part of Old Testament] says, “Everyone pisteuon [having reliance, having faith] upon Him won’t be shamed down,” for there isn’t a distinction for the same Kurios of all of mankind (both of Jew and of Greek) is wealth to all those appealing to Him for, “Everyone (whoever invokes the name [authority] of the Kuriou [Lord, Master]) sothesetai [will be safe; will be saved].”

JOEL 2.32: [YHWH speaking] “For it will be that all, who call out to the name of YHWH, mala [will be smooth, will be slippery, will escape, will be saved] for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance,” as YHWH has said, “and there is a survivor to whom YHWH shall call out.”

Luke 8.26: And they sailed down into the territory of the Gaderenes which is on the opposite side of the Sea from Galilee. Now, He issuing upon the land, a certain man (emergent from the city) encountered Him, who had had demons for some time, and he not put on clothing and not stayed in a house but stayed in the tombs. Now, seeing Jesus and shrieking out, he prostrated himself before Him and with a megale phone [sound, tone, noise, voice] said, “What is there between me and You, Jesus, Son of Theos the Highest? I beg You not to torture me!” For He had commanded the impure pneumati [winds, breaths, spirits] to come forth from the man. For many times it [they] had seized him and he was [had been] shackled with manacles and shackles and was being guarded when tearing apart the bands, he was driven into the wastelands under the power of the demons. Now, Jesus questioned him [the spokes-spook], saying, “What is your name?” Now, he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him, and they implored Him in order that He not order them to go off into the abusson.

Revelation 9: And the fifth aggelos trumpeted and I saw a star (emergent from ouranos) having fallen to the earth. And the same [aggelos] was given the key to the pit of the abussos and he opened the pit of the abussos and a smoke went up (emergent from the pit) like the smoke of a megales furnace. And the sun and the aer [air] was obscured [darkened, blackened] and emergent from [due to] the smoke of the pit.

Luke continues: Now, there was a considerable herd of swine rooting in the mountain and they [the demons] implored Him in order that He would allow them to enter those swine. Now, issuing emergent from the man, the demons entered the swine and the herd bolted down the precipice into the lake and was drowned. Now, the herdsmen (seeing the event being caused to be) ran away. And going off, they announced these events to the city [Gadara, the capital of the Roman province of Peraea] and to the country. Now, they came forth to see the event (being caused to be) and came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had issued (clothed and of sound mind) sitting down near the feet of Jesus. And they were frightened. Now, those seeing how the man formerly manipulated by demons was esothe [made safe, saved], they apaggeilan [reported] this to them. And the populace all around the region of the Gadarenes requested Him to go away from them because they were gripped with megalo fear.

2nd Peter 2: But there were also pseudoprophetai [false prophets] in [among] the people, as also in you will be pseudodidaskaloi [false teachers], who will introduce destructive haireseis [factionalism, dissenting belief, heresy], also contradicting the Despoten [Ruler, Master, Despot] having redeemed them, further inflicting themselves with abrupt destruction. Many will follow out their ruin via whom the roadway of the truth blasphemethesetai [will be defamed, will be slandered, will be vilified, will be blasphemed]. In avarice they will peddle to you well-formed logois [words] for whom the long-standing krima [judgment] not dawdles, and their ruin not nods off. For if Theos not spared hamarton [missing the mark or goal; erring, offending, sinning] aggelon but surrendered them to chains, thrust down into gloomiest Tartaros [the deepest part of the abussos] into reserved judgment and if Theos not spared the primeval kosmou but preserved the eight of Noah, a keruka [proclaimer, herald] of dikaiosunes, while further afflicting the irreverent kosmo [universe, world, cosmos] with kataklusmon [an inundation] and if Theos katekrinen [decided against, passed judgment against, declared a verdict against] the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah [“Submersion”] to katastrophe [overturning, demolition] by reduction to ashes, placing [setting] an exhibit to those intending to act irreverently and yet He rescued dikaion Lot, he having been worn down under the in-licentiousness behavior of The Lawless.

Revelation 20: And I saw an aggelon coming down (emergent from Ouranou) having the keys of the abussou and a megalen chain upon his hand. And he seized the dragon (the primeval snake, who is the diabolos [leader to shame, devil, satyr] and Satanas [Satan, Accuser]) and he bound him for a thousand years and threw him into the abusson and closed him up and signet-sealed up above him. This is done in order that he shouldn't cause the ethne [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] to stray until the thousand years are ended. And after these things [thousand years] it is necessary that he be loosed for a mikron space of time.

Lesson 68 Amplified – APOSTOLOS

 APOSTOLOS -- APOSTOLOI

American singular: delegate, ambassador, apostle

plural: delegates, ambassadors, apostles

Originally Jesus chose twelve men to be His apostoloi. Judas the Greater [the older], Son of Simon the Iscariot [Keriothite; i.e. from Kerioth] surrendered/betrayed Jesus to the leaders of the Judaeans. The apostoloi chose (by casting a lot) Mathias to replace Judas the betrayer but after his being chosen, he is never again mentioned in the New Blood Covenant. Paul [nee Saul] of Tarsus, Cilicia, writes that he is the twelfth apostolos.

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Luke 6.12: Now it was caused to be (in those days) that He went forth into the Mount of Olives proseuchomai [to humbly beg of God, to pray]. And He was staying up the whole of the night in proseuche of Theos. And when it was caused to be day, He called to His mathetai and He selected from them two and ten [twelve] whom He also named apostoloi.

Galatians 1.11: Now, I make known to you, brothers, the euaggelion euaggelisthen under me that it is not down [according] to man. For I not received it from man nor was I taught by man; conversely, via a revelation of Jesus, the Christou [Anointed One, Mashiyach, Messiah, Christ]. For you heard of my way of life (when in Judaism), that with surpassing zeal I persecuted the ekklesia [assembly, church] of Theos; ravaged it and progressed in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my race [Jews], being more superabundantly a zealot of my ancestral traditions. Now, at the time, it pleased Theos (He separating me emergent from my mother’s belly and calling me via His charitos [graciousness]) to reveal His Son (in me) in order that I might euaggelizoeai Him in [among] the ethnoi [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles]. I not conferred with flesh and blood nor did I go up to Jerusalem to the chosen-before-me apostoloi; conversely, I went immediately away into Arabia [east of Damascus, Syria; now Iraq] and later returned (again) to Damascus.                                                                    Then, after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to learn from Rock [some texts use “Cephas,” which is Latin for “Rock”; Jesus renamed him “Kaf”, which is Chaldee for “Rock”; in Greek “Rock” is “Petros”; an American transliteration of “Petros” is “Peter”] and remained by his side for fifteen days. But I not saw any of the others of the apostoloi except James Bar Joseph, the half-brother of the Kuriou.

1st Corinthians 4.9: For I think that Theos sent us out (the apostoloi) last (as doomed to death) because we were caused to be a theatron [spectacle, theater] to the kosmos, to angeloi and to men.

1st Corinthians 12.28: And (in fact) whom did Theos place in the ekklesia? Firstly apostolous, secondly prophetas [before tellers, prophets], thirdly teachers, then works of dunameis [force, power], then charismata [gifts, endowments, faculties, deliverances] of healing, relief [help], pilotage [leadership], kin [families] of glossai.

Acts 5.17: Now standing up, the high priest and all those with him (this being the party [sect] of the Sadducees) were filled of zelos [heat: zeal, ardor; jealousy, envy, malice] and throwing their hands upon the apostoloi, they also publicly put them in custody. But via night, an angelos of the Kurios opened the door of the keep [jail] and leading them forth, said, “Go! and standing in the Temple, speak [preach] to the people all the rhemai [utterances] of this Life.” Now having heard [heeding], they entered into the Temple (at dawn) and taught.

Lesson 67 Amplified – MATHETES

MATHETES -- MATHETAI

American singular: learner, pupil, disciple -- plural: learners, pupils, disciples

There were, at times, dozens (perhaps hundreds) of people following our Lord Jesus the Christ. They “hung upon” every word He spoke and observed everything he did, when he permitted them. They heard Him speak His parables, but He didn’t explain the underlying truths to them.

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Luke 6.12: Now, it was caused to be in those days that He went forth into the Mount of Olives proseuxasthai [to humbly beseech God, to pray]. And He was staying up the whole of the night in proseuche of Theos. And when it was caused to be day, He called to His mathetas, and He selected from them two and ten [twelve] whom He also named apostolous [delegates, ambassadors, apostles]: Simon (whom He also called Petros [“Rock”]) and Andrew Bar Jona his brother; James and John Bar Zebedee; Phillip and Nathanael Bar Tolmai [or traditionally, “Bartholomew”]; Matthew [formerly “Levi”] Bar Alphaeus and Thomas [“Twin”]; James the Less [the Younger] Bar Alphaeus and Simon (the one called Zeloten [“Zealot”]); Judas Bar Jacob [“Son of James”; later called “Jude”] and Judas Bar Simeon the Iscariot (who was caused to be His surrenderer [betrayer].

Luke 6.39: Now, He spoke a parable to them: “I ask whether (or not at all) a blind person is able to show the way to a blind person? Won’t both fall into a hole? A mathetes isn’t above his teacher but having been thoroughly completed, all will be as their teachers.

Luke 7.11 And it was caused to be in the next day, that He traveled into a city called Nain [“Pleasantness”], Galilee and an ample number of His mathetai and a great crowd journeyed with Him.

Luke 14.25: Now, many (a large throng) assembled to Him and turning, He said toward them, “If anyone comes toward Me and not detests his father and his mother and his gunaika and his children and his brothers and his sisters and (besides) even his psuche, he isn’t able to be My mathetes. And he who not bears his stake and comes behind [follows] Me, he isn’t able to be My mathetes.

Acts 6.7: And the Logos of Theos grew and the number of the matheton in Jerusalem vehemently increased and a large throng of the priests listened attentively to [heeded, conformed to] the pistei [faith].

Acts 9: Now, Saul [later Paul] was still inhaling [breathing] threats and murder to the mathetas of the Kuriou. Having approached the high priest, he asked for letters off [from] him to Damascus, Syria (toward [to] the synagogues), so that if any of “The Way” be found (both men and gunaikas) binding them, he might lead [drag] them to Jerusalem.

Acts 10.25: And Joses Bar Nabas went forth to Tarsus, Cilicia to seek out Saul. And finding him, he led him to Antioch. Now, it was caused to be to them a whole year convened in the ekklesia [assembly, church] and they taught a competent [considerable] throng. The mathetas were also first called Christianos [Christians] in Antioch.

Acts 14.19: Now, Judaeans came over from Antioch and Iconium and persuaded [won over] the throng [populace]. And stoning Paul, they trailed [dragged] him outside the city; nomisantes [doing by Law] to him tethnanan [having died]. Now, the matheton having encircled him, anastas [standing up again], he reentered the city and the next day, he went forth with Joses Bar Nabas to Derbe. Both euaggelisamenoi [announced the good news, evangelized] to that city, and matheteusantes [having made learners, pupils, disciples] of enough people, they returned to Lystra and its environs (Iconium and Antioch), confirming the psuchas [souls] of the matheton, parakalountes [calling near, inviting, urging, exhorting, encouraging] them to continue in the pistei and that it is necessary that, via much stress, we enter into the Kingdom of Theos.

John 6.60: Hearing this, many emergent from His mathetai said, “This logos is hard to accept. Who can stand to listen to it?” But Jesus (knowing in Himself that His mathetai were murmuring concerning this) said to them, “Does this offend you? What then will be your reaction if you are a spectator of the Son of Man going up where He was at first? It is the Hagios Pneuma Who makes alive; the flesh profits not even one thing! The rhemata [utterances] that I speak to you are pneuma [spirit] and are life but emergent from you are some who not pisteuousin [are putting their faith] in Me.” For Jesus knew (emergent from the beginning) who are those not pisteuontes and who is the one surrendering Him, and He said, “This is why I have told you that not even one man is able to come to Me unless it is given to the same emergent from My Father.” After this, many of His matheton went away into the things behind [returned to their previous pursuits] and no longer walked all around with Him. To us twelve, He said, “Don't you also wish to go away?” Simon (the Rock) answered Him, “Kurie! to whom shall we go? You have the rhemata of eternal life. We pepisteukamen [have put our faith in] You and have known that You are the Christos [Anointed One, Mashiyach], the Son of the living Theos.”

Lesson 66 Amplified – GEHENNA -- HAIDES

 GEHENNA

American: Hell, place of punishment

Hebrew Aramaic: Ge-Hinnom [“Valley of Gahee-Hinnome”]

HAIDES

American: Unseen, subterranean world of the dead, Hades

Hebrew Aramaic: Sheol or Sheowl

These are two distinct Koine Greek words for the abode(s) of the dead. Can you discover a distinction?

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Luke 12.4: [Jesus speaking] But I say to you, My friends, not be frightened from those killing the soma [body] and after these deeds not having furthermore to do. But I will show you Whom you shall fear; the One Who (after killing someone) has the privilege to throw him into Geennan [pronounced “Gehenna”].

James 3.6: The tongue is a fire and so the tongue is a kosmos of iniquity in our members, spotting [defiling] the whole soma; inflaming the course of human nature and being inflamed under Geennes.

Mark 9.42: [Jesus speaking] And whoever trips up one of these mikron ones [little children] pisteuonton [having faith] into Me, it is kalon [beautiful, virtuous] if rather a millstone be encircled around his neck, and he be thrown into the sea. And if your hand trips you up, amputate it. It is kalon for you to enter into Life maimed rather than to go off into Geennan having two hands, into the perpetual fire where their maggot not dies, and the fire isn’t extinguished. And if your foot trips you up, amputate it. It is kalon for you to enter into Life limping rather than to go off into Geennan having two feet into the perpetual fire where their maggot not dies, and the fire isn’t extinguished. And if your eye trips you up, eject it. It is kalon for you to enter into the Kingdom of Theos one-eyed rather than to go off into Geennan having two eyes into the perpetual fire where their maggot not dies, and the fire isn’t extinguished.

Matthew 5.22: [Jesus speaking] Now, whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca’ [Hebrew: “O empty or worthless one”], shall be liable to the Sanhedrin. Now, whoever says to his brother, ‘More’ [“stupid, fool”], shall be liable to the fiery Geennan.

Matthew 10:28: [Jesus speaking] And you shouldn’t fear from those killing the soma but not being able to kill the psuche [soul, life, psyche, ego]; but rather fear the One being able to utterly destroy both the soma and psuche in Geenne.

PSALM 16.9: [Son of Theos speaking] For this reason My heart is blithe [full of joy] and my kabowd [weight, value, splendor] twirls with joy. Also, My flesh will rest in trust for You [YHWH] won’t loosen [relinquish] My nephesh [psuche] in Sheol.

1st Corinthians 15.51: LO! I tell you a musterion [secret, mystery]. Indeed, we shan’t all be put to sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment (in a jerk of the eye) in the final reverberation. For it will trumpet and the dead will be awakened imperishable, and we shall be changed for this decaying body must be clothed with imperishability and this mortal body must be clothed with athanasian [deathlessness, immortality]. When this decayed shall be clothed with imperishability and this mortal be clothed with athanasian, then will occur the logos written, “Death was swallowed into victory. Where is your sting, O Death? Where, O Haides, is your victory?”

HOSEA 13.14: [YHWH speaking] “From Sheol’s hand I will ransom them. From Death, I will redeem them. Where are your plagues, O Death? Where are your exterminations, O Sheol?

Luke 16.19: [Jesus speaking -- a parable?] “Now, there was a certain man who was wealthy and was clothed with purple and white linen, having brilliantly celebrated down to day by day. Now, there was some pauper named Lazarus, who had been tossed toward his doorway, being ulcerous and longing to be fed off the crumbs falling from the table of the wealthy one. Instead, even the dogs (coming by) licked his sores. Now, it was caused to be that the pauper died, and he was borne away (by the aggelon) into the bosom of Abraham. Now, also the wealthy one died and was interred. And being in torture in Haides, raising up his eyes, he sees (from afar) Abraham and Lazarus in his bosom. And he phonesas [shouting said], ‘Father Abraham! have compassion upon me and dispatch Lazarus in order that he may bapse [dip] the tip of his finger in water and may cool down my tongue because I am grieving in this flame. Now, Abraham said, ‘Child! bear in mind that you fully received your good in your life and Lazarus similarly received the kaka [worthless] but now he is comforted but you are grieving. And above all these issues, between us and you a mega chasm has been set so that those thelontes [determining, choosing, deciding] to cross from here towards you aren’t able, lest those from there might cross over towards us.’

Matthew 11.23: [Jesus speaking] And for you Capernaum, Galilee, have you been elevated up to Ouranou? to Haides you will be caused to go down because if in Sodon were caused to be the dunameis [power works] being caused to be in you, it would remain until today. Furthermore, I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the Day of Judgment than for you.”

Matthew 16.15: He says to us, “But Whom do you say Me to be?” Now responding, Simon the Rock said, “YOU ARE the Christos [Anointed One, Messiah, Mashiyach, Christ], the Son of the Living Theos!” And responding, Jesus said, “Makarios [Supremely blest] are you, Simon Bar Jonah, because flesh and blood not disclosed this truth to you; conversely, My Father in the Ouranois [Heavens]. And I also say to you, ‘You are Rock’ and upon this monolithic rock I will erect My ekklesian [assembly, church] and the gates [courts] of Haides shan’t overpower her. And I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of the Ouranon and in case you bind upon the earth, it shall be bound (if first having been bound in the Ouranois) and in case you loose anything upon the earth, it shall be loosed (if first having been loosed in the Ouranois).” Then is when He ordered [enjoined] us mathetai in order that we may not tell (to even one person) that He, Jesus, is the Christos.

Revelation 1.17: And when I saw the Same, I fell forward (to His feet) as if dead. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying to me, “Not fear! I AM the First and the Last and the living One! And I was caused to be dead and LO! I AM living to the ages of the ages. Amen! And I hold the keys of Hadou [Haides] and of death.

Lesson 65 Amplified – DIAKONOS

DIAKONOS -- DIAKONOI

American: singular: waiter, attendant, servant, deacon

plural: waiters, attendants, servants, deacons

Some denominations appoint members as “deacons”. They are usually regarded as servants of the congregation. We will now access the initial usage of this Koine Greek word.

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Acts 6: [This is the description of the inception of appointing diakonoi.]                               Now, matheton [learners, pupils, disciples] multiplying in these days, there was grumbling of the Hellenists [Greek-speaking Jews] toward the Hebrews because their widows were being overlooked [disregarded] in the daily servingof meals. Now, the twelve disciples having called (to themselves) the throng of the matheton, they said, “It isn’t agreeable [fit] for us to leave down [abandon] the teaching of the Logon [Word] to serve [wait] tables. Accordingly, brothers, inspect [select] seven men (emergent from yourselves) of testimony [witness] full of the Hagios Pneuma and of wisdom, whom we will establish upon this employment, but we will be earnest [adhere to] proseuche [humbly begging God, praying] and the serving of the Logou.”

1st Thessalonians 3: So no longer able to endure, I agreed to be left alone in Athens, Achaia. I sent our brother and diakonos of Theos and my fellow worker in the euaggelion [good news, gospel, evangel] of the Christos [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ], Timothy, sterixai [to securely set, to make steadfast] and parakalesai [call near, invite, urge, exhort, encourage] you concerning your pistis [reliance, faith].

1st Corinthians 3.3: For from where in you is zelos [heat: zeal, ardor; jealousy, envy, malice], quarrelling and disunion? You aren’t fleshy and not walk down to man, do you? For when one may say, “I (in fact) am of Paul,” and another “I am of Apollos,” aren’t you being fleshy? What then is Paul and what is Apollos? Conversely, we are diakonoi via whom you episteusate [had faith]; to each as the Kurios gave to him. I planted, Apollos watered, conversely, Theos caused to grow. So as neither he planting nor he watering matters, conversely, He making grow -- Theos!

1st Corinthians 16.15: Brothers! you know that the house [family] of Stephanas [“Crown”] is first fruit of Achaia and that they assigned themselves to diakonian [serving] the hagiois [holy ones, sacred ones, consecrated ones, saints] and I exhort you to be subordinate to such and to all my toiling fellow workers.

Philippians 1: Paul and Timothy, slaves of Jesus, the Christou, to all the hagios in Jesus, the Christou, being in Philippi; with superintendents [overseers] and diakonois:

1st Timothy 3.8: Likewise, diakonous must be venerable, not dilogos [double-tongued], not given to much wine, not sordid [greedy], holding the musterion [secrets, mysteries] of the pisteos [faith] in a clean conscience. Also let these first be tested, then let them serve; being unaccused. Likewise, their gunaikas [women, wives] must be venerable not diabolous [leaders to shame, devils, satyrs], sober; pistas [trustworthy, faithful] in all. Let diakonoi be men of one gunaikos, well-presiding over their children and their own houses for those having served well acquire a kalon [beautiful, virtuous] standing for themselves and much outspoken [confidence] in the pistei [faith] in Jesus, the Christo.

1st Peter 4.7: The telos [the point aimed at, the end of this age] has drawn near. Accordingly, be of sound mind. Also, be sober into proseuchas [humbly begging God; praying]. Above all, be having intense agapen [unconditional love] for each other because agape will cover up scads of hamartion [misses of the mark or goal; errors, offenses, sins]. Be hospitable (one to another) without grumbling. Just as each has received a charisma [gift, endowment, faculty, deliverance], serve yourselves [each other] to [with] it as good diakonoi of the variegated charitos of Theos.

Lesson 64 Amplified – GRAPHE

 GRAPHE -- GRAPHAI

American lower case: singular, a document -- plural: documents

American UPPER CASE, singular: Scripture, part of Old Testament

American UPPER CASE, plural:The Scriptures (Old Testament)

You may wish to reread Lesson 52 Amplified - Biblion or Bible at this time. Graphe refers the words written in the Biblion. We will not consider the lower case graphe here.

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

Galatians 3.6: Just as Abraham had pistis [reliance, faith] in Theos and it was credited to him so much as dikaiosunen [equity, justification, rightness]:

GENESIS 15.6: …and he, Abraham, trusted in YHWH and He credited it to him for tasadaqua [dikaiosune].

Galatians continues: Know then that those emergent from pistis, these are the sons of Abraham. Now, foreseeing the Graphe that Theos dikaioi [would render just] the ethne [nations, races, non-Jews, gentiles] emergent from pistis, He announced the euaggelion [good news, gospel, evangel] in advance, to Abraham, “...that all ethne will be blest in you.”

GENESIS 12.3: [Adonay {Kurios} speaking],

“... and in you shall all the families [tribes] of the earth be blest.”

Galatians 3.22: Conversely, now the Graphe has subjected everyone under hamartian [missing the mark or goal, erring, offending, sinning] in order that the epagglia [announcement, proclamation, promise] emergent from pistis might be given to those having pistis in Jesus, the Christou [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ].

1st Corinthians 15.3: For I transmitted to you (in the first place) what I also received: that the Christos died over our hamartion down to the Graphas:

ISAIAH 53.5: But He [Jesus] was pierced for our pesha [rebellion], crumbled [crushed] for our avown [perversity]. The muwcar [chastisement] of our shalom [safety, peace, health, happiness, prosperity, friendship] was upon Him and with His chaburah [weals, welts, as from whiplash], we are raphah [mended, cured, healed]. We all ourselves, like migratory herds taah [have vacillated, reeled, gone astray]. Each man has turned to his derek [way, road trodden] and YHWH has made paga [to impinge] upon Him [Jesus] the pesha of us all. He was nagas [driven as an animal, harassed] and He was browbeaten but He not opened His mouth. As a rachel [ewe] to slaughter, He yabal [was flowed, carried, brought, led forth] and as a rachel face-to-face with her shearers is alam [tongue-tied, dumb, silenced], He not opened His mouth. From otser [constraint, confinement] and from mishpat [the verdict, sentence] He was taken and who shall siyach [ponder, consider] His dor [era, generation]? For He was cut off from the land of the alive [living] from [because of] the pesha of my [Isaiah’s] people; the blow struck Him. And He was given [put] with the morally wrong and His sepulcher with a rich man in His death, although He hadn’t done violence nor was deceit found in His mouth. But YHWH was pleased to crumble [crush] Him; to rub [wear out, sicken] Him. When You [YHWH] and He [Jesus] shall put [make] a guilt offering of His nephesh [psuche: soul, life, psyche, ego], He shall see His spiritual zera [sperma: descendants]. He shall prolong His days and the pleasure of YHWH in His hand [power, means] shall push forth [prosper]. He shall see the fruit of the amal [wearing effort, stress] of His nephesh and be satisfied. Through knowledge of Himself, My [YHWH’s] tsaddiyq [just, righteous] Servant shall make tsadaq [to be just, to be righteous] abundant [very, very many] and their avown He shall cabal [carry, bear]. Therefore, I [YHWH] will apportion to Him [Jesus] with the abundantly wealthy and with the powerful. He shall apportion the spoils [booty] because He emptied out His nephesh into death and was numbered with the pasha [those who break away, rebels] and He bore the chet [penalty] of abundant [very, very many] and for the pasha [rebellion], paga [was impinged upon].

Lesson 63 Amplified – SCHISMA

 SCHISMA ---- SCHISMAI

American singular: split, division, schism -- plural: splits, divisions, schisms

In the New Blood Covenant, Christians were constantly warned to be of one mind regarding the Kingdom of Theos; schisms were to be fearfully avoided.

Almost Greek [Words in italics are translator’s additions.]

1st Corinthians 1.10: Brothers! I now parakalo [call near, invite, urge, exhort, encourage, solace] you (via the name of our Kuriou [Lord, Master] Jesus, the Christou [Anointed One, Messiah, Christ]) that you all say the same logos [word] and there not be in [among] you, schismai but that you be united in the same nous [intellect, mind, understanding] and opinion. For it was shown to me (concerning you), my brothers (by those of Chloe [“Green”]), that in you there is quarrelling. This they say that each of you says differently: “I indeed am of Paul” and “I am of Apollos” and “I am of Rock” and “I am of the Christou.” Has the Christos been divided? Was Paul crucified for you or were you ebaptisthete [immersed, submerged, baptized] in the name of Paul?

1st Corinthians 11.17 But transmitting this, I not praise you for you not assemble for the better; conversely, for the worse. For (in fact) firstly I hear that there are schismata in you assembling in the ekklesia [assembly, church] and in part, I believe some of it. For there are [must be] haireseis [factionalism, dissenting belief] also in you in order that the acceptable [approved] ones in you may be caused to be shining [stand out].

John 7.37: The final day, the megale [big, large, huge, great] day of the feast, Jesus stood and shouted out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink! He pisteuon [putting his faith] into Me, as the Graphe [Scripture, part of Old Testament] said, ‘Emergent from His koilias [the hollow core of the body; the location of the pneuma] will flow living water.’”

ISAIAH 58.11 YHWH always shall guide you and satisfy your nephesh [psuche] in the dry places and brace up your bones and you shall be like a watered garden and a spring of water, whose waters don't prove false …

John continued: But He said this of the Hagios Pneuma, Whom those pisteuontes into Him were about to receive for the Hagios Pneuma wasn't yet given because Jesus not yet was glorified. Hearing the logon, many emergent from the crowd said, “This truly is the Prophetes [before teller, one speaking under inspiration, prophet]!” Others said, “This is the Christos [Anointed One, Mashiyach]!” But others said,” “No! the Christos not comes from Galilee, does He? Hasn't the Graphe said that the Christos comes emergent from the spermatos [descent] of David and out from Bethlehem, Judah the village where David was?”

MICAH 5.2 [YHWH speaking] “And you, Bethlehem [“House of Bread”] Ephrata [“Fruitful” or “An Israeli Woman”], least among the thousands of Judah, out of you (to Me) He shall come forth to be caused to be One ruling in Israel.”

John continued: Then a schisma occurred in the crowd because of Him. Some emergent from them ethelon [determined, chose, decided] to arrest Him but not even one man laid a hand upon Him. Meanwhile, the Sanhedrin police came back to the Pharisees and chief priests, who asked them, “Why didn't you bring Him?” The police replied, “Not even one man ever spoke as this Man speaks.”

John 9.13: They led him toward the Pharisees, the one once blind. Now, it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes. Accordingly, the Pharisees (also, again) asked him how he had received sight and he said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, I washed and now I see!” Accordingly, some emergent from the Pharisees said, “This Man isn’t from beside Theos because He not keeps the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man, who is an hamartolos [misser of the mark or goal, one in error, offender, sinner], do such semeia [signs, indications]?” So, there was a schisma in them. Again, they say to the formerly blind one, “What say you concerning Him, since He opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophetes!” The Judaeans not episteusan [having put their faith in] that he ever really was blind and that he had received his sight, until they summoned his parents, and they asked them, “Is this your son who (you say) was born blind? Accordingly, how does he now see?” His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind but as to how he now sees, we don't know nor Who has opened his eyes. He is of age, ask him. He will speak concerning [for] himself.” His parents spoke these words because they feared the Judaeans for even now, the Judaeans had agreed that if anyone should acknowledge Him as Christon, he would be caused to be excommunicated. Via this, his parents said, “He has majority, ask him.”

John 10:17 [Jesus speaking]: “For the Father agapa [unconditionally loves] Me because I lay down My psuchen [soul, life, psyche, ego] in order that I may take it back again. Not even one man takes it from Me; conversely, I (Myself) lay it down. I have authority to lay it down and have authority to take it back again. I received this command from My Father.” Then is when a fresh schisma was caused to be in the Judeans because of these logous. Many of them said, “He is a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?” Others said, “These rhemata [utterances] aren't of one daimonizouenou [demon-possessed]. Can a demon open blind eyes?”
